  1. Fireplace in progress, once I find some basalt I want to polish and inlay that. columns in the main hall, and a hand-carved staircase. Sleeping nook, which was a bit challenging to get the bed sorted but I'm pleased with the results.
  2. On my dedicated server, now that I have the community center totally planned out and also operating smoothly, I decided it was time to wander into the back hills and carve out a home of my own. Does anyone know if there's a way to polish stone without relieving it? As much as I enjoy this look, it'd be really nice to be able to smooth out the walls and floors as I go... So this above image is the entryway, and I really like how it's coming out. I want to do a floor mosaic at some point, still deciding what I'll use for that. I've integrated the polished bauxite because I really want this to be made of local stone and materials, and am glad my player character doesn't need to worry about heavy metal poisoning for that purpose. Here's my custom ramp, it needs a bit more tweaking because I feel like it's off center but i have a very hard time counting voxels on unpolished granite >.> I'm going to whittle myself a pair of wheelchairs at some point, one for the entrance and one for inside "use". Having fun creating an accessible space.
  3. For me, I'm bedbound irl and my body can't handle a lot of the activities I used to do that bring me joy - the simulation aspect, the immersive crafting, actively taking care of my environment. Building things for myself and others, growing plants. Crossing a hill and seeing a beautiful field of flowers, hunting for mushrooms in the forest. The first moment I intuitively threw a red hot piece of metal into a pond and it hissed and steamed and rapidly cooled brought me so much joy that I just made the out loud sound equiv of !!!!!!!! Multiplayer in this game has been really healing, especially since due to irl pandemic things I can't socialize with anyone outside of my home environment. I get to participate in a form of society, and that's really special for me. The plants and mushrooms, I think, are what bring me the most consistent and enduring joy. If I were physically capable, I'd be pursuing formal study as a botanist or mycologist. The modding scene as well, everyone seems so kind, and stuff like the Ancient Tools, From Golden Combs etc mods bring me so much joy. Also the chiselling. Absolutely wonderful system I've barely scratched the surface of.
  4. In my experiences, and the experience of some folks I've been playing and sharing info with, it can be highly variable! If you find a good patch, you're set, but if you don't, you're stuck at a bottleneck that locks off a lot of progression and can be quite frustrating. It would be super nice to be able to find some underground!

  6. Hello! I looked through this forum and I couldn't find anything similar to this, but apologies in case I missed something. I've been playing for a while now, and I and many friends have had a lot of trouble finding clay deposits. I know where I expect clay to be - I've lived in both very moist and very arid areas, and I typically look near bodies of water in the former and a couple of layers down for the latter. "Clays and clay minerals occur under a fairly limited range of geologic conditions. The environments of formation include soil horizons, continental and marine sediments, geothermal fields, volcanic deposits, and weathering rock formations. Most clay minerals form where rocks are in contact with water, air, or steam. Examples of these situations include weathering boulders on a hillside, sediments on sea or lake bottoms, deeply buried sediments containing pore water, and rocks in contact with water heated by magma (molten rock). All of these environments may cause the formation of clay minerals from preexisting minerals. Extensive alteration of rocks to clay minerals can produce relatively pure clay deposits that are of economic interest (for example, bentonites‹primarily montmorillonite‹used for drilling muds and clays used in ceramics)." (https://pubs.usgs.gov/info/clays/) I am unsure how it currently works in worldgen, but my suggestion is for clay layers to be findable beneath a few layers of soil in some areas where it would be geologically sound, which also softens the transition between soil > rock, and could assist in mining operations on worlds with soil instability (which I absolutely adore, it's one of my favourite features in the entire game and I never play without it on personally :D). As the above quote mentions, it would be rad to be able to dig into a lake bed and find a clay layer, or to chip away at the side of a mountain, and even if you can't find an ore deposit, you still have a chance of coming away with something quite valuable. I am not proposing that this replace the existing clay deposit system, because it's very exciting (for me at least!) when I do find one, but I think this would serve as a supplement that is also a safeguard for folks that will help alleviate substantial difficulties that arise sometimes in locating clay. I believe this could have benefits in a multiplayer experience, both in that it would help players who primarily want to fill the role of potters in a community, and because it adds a layer of consideration for how a settlement site is selected. Thank you for reading and considering my suggestion, I love the game a lot and it's making me consider taking up modding!!
  7. Thank you very much! They'll try that. Thank you for all your hard work!
  8. Hiya, a friend of mine is having major trouble with the resin extraction mechanic, and I see this is a fairly common problem on looking through some of the pages here? As of the latest release, could someone please explain the workflow for resin from collection to finalized nugget? Atm they're stuck with resin in bowls and a bucket and can't find a way to extract it.
