Copper and Prospecting

I started looking for copper and I'm prospecting but the square that indicates the area I've analyzed doesn't appear on the map (at least that's what I've seen in the guides), am I doing something wrong?

That "square that indicates the area" is probably drawn by the mod VsProspectorInfo. It is not a feature of the base game.

If you are using the VSProspectorInfo mod, default setting requires you to hold the propick to see the chunks you've prospected in and the results for that chunk.
