hey

it would be nice to be able to play on lan without internet, me and my wife find it very annoying we cant play on lan when there is bad weather outside or there is any other reason there is no internet available

i understand need for fight vs piracy and stuff but it really doesnt make any sense to me that we cant play on our server even if we could 10 min ago and after server checked us both like 1000 times already only bc we restarted or something, its annoying to point we even think about stop playing at all cos with kids and stuff to do we got little time to play anyway and if that time is when internet is out its really disappointing

it would be enough if server check once a week or something

Bad weather is an issue for us at home, yes. We have a satellite connection, and if we have to restart for any reason when it's raining, we have to find something else to do.

Seems weird. You can actually play single player with whatever login was last used, but join your local server using the logins you were using just a few seconds ago, NFW.

If you port forward on your router, you should be able to connect via the local IP anyway... I wonder if that would work? Technically it should.

My tech guy asked if you would give a few more details. What specifically about port forwarding? Or should I just tell him to do ask so I don't screw it up in the Telephone Game?

I don't know a whole lot more about routers except that one Orbi sits next to my modem, and we have a couple mesh Orbis spread around the house that work by magic, I think.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but you would forward your internal IP of your PC that is "hosting". Usually you just go into NAT or "port forwarding" in the router and enter your internal IP address and port number(s) you want to use. This way, you should be able to accept connections from your WAN (internet ip) or LAN (local ip) address.

If the problem is with reaching the authentication server as Bossman has mentioned, then port forwarding may not help you there unless there's a way to disable authentication requirements like you can do with Minecraft. I'm not sure if Vintage Story has a server option to use "offline" mode.
