cownleyman Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 Currently having trouble with my greenhouse. made a greenhouse and getting the +5c buff as well as 75-50% moisture however my farmland made from medium fertility + high fertility soil is doing just fine and at stage 6, however, the crops on the terra petra (planted at the same time) are only on stage 1 or 2 even though growth rate is at 107%. is this a bug with the new version or something else happening? theres no air gaps below the soil and ive broken and replaced one of the crops (Top right one just to check). and ideas on whats happening?
LadyWYT Posted July 13, 2024 Report Posted July 13, 2024 It could just be really bad luck. Occasionally you'll get a tile or two that seems to take forever to grow, although it's a little unusual that the whole plot would do that. Have you installed any mods recently? If you have, it could be due to a mod messing with something. Otherwise, if it's vanilla and the crops still don't grow after several days despite the conditions being right, I'd say you may have run into a bug.
Bumber Posted July 14, 2024 Report Posted July 14, 2024 https://mods.vintagestory.at/extrainfo will tell you the minimum time to grow remaining. It's still subject to a random growth check after that point.
Michael Gates Posted July 15, 2024 Report Posted July 15, 2024 Check the lighting. I had part of my farm in the shade of some big trees this past year and that just... didn't grow, until I cut the trees down. Going to do some real testing next game year, but I'm being suspicious right now. 1
Krosis Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 It happened something similar to me. Got a regular harvest from a 8 plot farm, but next one was EXTREMELY slow in 7 of the 8 blocks (not using the same nutrient group). I believe its just rng, but not really sure

Don't know if leaves count. But the rotating, standard, shadow of the tree (relative to the position of the sun) has no such gameplay impact (the game's not THAT smart...). Assuming the crops in the OP image were indeed planted at the same time, and had sufficient nutrient levels, and no direct/overhead block above the Terra Preta crops, it does seem like a bug. Bad luck is kind of not an option where 8/8 blocks appear to exhibit anomalous behavior. Edited November 29, 2024 by Khornet 1

And I was just doing some testing to see what size greenhouses work and what the rules are, and carrots were growing even though they literally had a dirt block directly above them (greenhouse needs only 50% glass roof to work). 1
