Klammlorx
Probably nitpicky from my end since I studied this stuff, but I know that IRL speleothems are exclusively calcite/travertine structures that form out of groundwater seepage and precipitation in the subsurface. So andesite speleothems or granite speleothems etc. are not really a thing. Since it's common to find calcite in pretty much every rock type I was wondering if it's feasible to change the speleothem colour/texture and in-game descriptor to strictly limestone? I think it would make caves look pretty nice too. Adding a weighting factor to certain rock types so they generate more in limestones, marbles and sedimentary rocks and less in igneous rocks when the world is created would also be really cool to see. Loving the game so far, bought it a few weeks ago!
Maelstrom
This would also make it easier to get limestone for leather making. Especially in those vast granite areas that seem to end only after a three day journey one way.
StCatharines
I swear there is a mod that makes all speleothems into chalk/calcite. Edit: There is! Limestone Speleothems v1.1.0 Edited August 9 by StCatharines
Flish
I'm for this specifically because it would help make lime more accessible to the average player without extensive travel without making limestone/chalk completely worthless to search for- You can get lucky and find a few speleothems for some limestone in other areas, but realistically for long periods of time (or making any amount of plaster) you still want to go out and find a limestone/chalk area. Thorfinn
I tried the mod, and it made things way too easy. There was always some cave close at hand to get lime without risk. It probably just needs to be fine-tuned, so that it is about as attractive a source as grinding mp shells or searching out loot containers or traders. Offhand, maybe a 2% drop rate? That is a whole lot faster than the traders or containers, but on the other hand, you are going through pick durability. Not a whole lot at 2%, since you need so little lime to make limewater, but it would be more balanced than the 100% it is now. Ooh, or maybe somewhere around 1% of speleothems are lime-based? You are guaranteed to get lime for every pick durability point, but have to explore more of the cave to get it?
