Cetasaya Posted October 31, 2024 Report Posted October 31, 2024 I mark the map like crazy. Traders, Bases, that Prospector Recorder Mod, Teleporters, Ect. And I noticed that if you put down a pickaxe mark and color it copper (reddish orange) it automatically changes the name to copper. Handy. I would like to have a Custom Marker section (not a tab, less clicks equals better UI design) added to the right side of the Waypoint box on the map. It would be a simple, small list that we could organise how we want of our own custom Map Markers that we can just click on without having to type in 'Treasure Trader' or 'Iron' everytime we need to. Click on the Custom Marker you made earlier, the game automatically backs onto the map, with your custom Mark loaded ready to place. And more map marker symbols would never hurt either. Simple shapes like triangles/squares, specific tree/fruit/crop/horsetail/resin symbols, specific animal symbols, windmill, farm, ranch, pier, bed ect. And a function to link symbols with a bold easily visible line as well. Mostly for teleporters. The line connecting them would be invisible until you clicked on one of the symbols. And a symbol/name searcher. Punch in "copper" and any symbol and its coordinates that contains "copper" in its name will be listed out and displayed ready for you to click on one and center the map on it. Same for the symbol or color. Search for a colorless trader symbol and a list off all trader symbols youve made will be displayed ready for you to rapidly cycle through them. Search for ruins symbols colored red and get ONLY ruin symbols colored red.  1
Thorfinn Posted November 1, 2024 Report Posted November 1, 2024 While I rarely play with map, for those that do, that would be a very useful feature, indeed. When I do play with map, I "cheat" that function in using a Streamdeck. 1
Thorfinn Posted November 2, 2024 Report Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) Oh, and I remembered that @egocarib (?) has a great mod, something like AutoMap Markers that does that more immersively, and even fewer clicks. Give that a whirl. For much of what you are talking about, you can configure the mod to set a marker just by interacting with the entity. Left-click on clay, there's a clay marker. Peat, peat marker. etc. Break a surface copper nugget, it puts down that orange pick. Dig it out and it places a ladder over the pick so you don't technically have to delete the marker -- at a glance you can see it been mined out. Crops, berries, mushrooms, resin, olivine, quartz, most of the stuff you might want marked. If I'm thinking the right mod, you can also set a hotkey to delete the nearest waypoint. [EDIT] @ApacheTech also had something similar, Campaign Cartographer maybe? He wanted to wait on some change in the method of setting waypoints that is evidently in the works. I think it's not currently being maintained, but it might still run in the current version. I don't remember exactly how it worked, but it was popular with people I hang with. [EDIT] I can't think of anything that does search of markers, but I think the obsolete VSHUD let you filter them. Or maybe that was in the works. It was abandoned several versions ago, alas. Cetasaya Posted November 4, 2024 Author Report Posted November 4, 2024 Youre awesome! Thank you so much! I saw the AutoMap mod awhile ago but was away from my PC thanks for reminding me.

If someone is thinking of modding this, please consider: "Pin" box for each waypoint in the filter list. "Pin All", maybe, too. Editable fields in this filter list. If I want to change the color or description or whatever... "Pin" history list. When you want to unpin all the clay, you just deselect that from history. I have other things on my wish list, but they are all "nice to have" that would probably need the above in the first place. ApacheTech Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 I want to get Campaign Cartographer back off the ground. But it's a big mod to maintain, and the Waypoints in the game still haven't been fixed properly. Originally, I wanted to keep CC as a client-side mod, but if I make it universal, I can just roll my own waypoint system, and not have to worry about the half-hearted attempts that have been made already.
Psyloh Posted January 1, 2025 Report Posted January 1, 2025 - Name should not be required to set a waypoint - Delete the mini-map or allow us to zoom in/out +1 for custom markers : like less markers by default and a UI to create our own! That way we only enter the name once then just : - open map - click a spot - select marker (maybe type its name's first letters to find it) - close map With such a system, enforcing name would be fine since as we would probably have tons of waypoint types, we would need a name to text-search them, to make them emphasized on the map, as well as to set them up in the first place!
