Cetasaya Posted October 31, 2024 Report Posted October 31, 2024 Everytime Drifters spawn somewhere in an underground cave or whatever I have to either hear them constantly moan and groan or turn off Settings>Sound>Effects Sound Level which kills so many other sounds along with the drifters. Also, why are drifter moans under 'Effects' and not 'Entities'? And there are no tooltips explaining what is an Effect, Entity, Ambient, ect. sound either. I suggest we just get rid of those vague, nebulous categories and have sliders for each specific sound (or close to it, maybe we dont need 200+ sliders lol). One for each drifters, bells, waves, storms, rain, wind, thunder, pig squeals, rooster crows, ect., ect., ect.
Maelstrom Posted November 1, 2024 Report Posted November 1, 2024 A slider for each sound? No. Just no. Broad categories? Most definitely yes! mobs, ambient, weather, music come to mind.

[EDIT] Another possibility is using a program like Normalizer to um, normalize all the in-game sounds, since the levels are all over the place. By setting different normalization levels, you can also set environmental sounds a little softer than effects, which are softer than creature noises, for example. Edited November 1, 2024 by Thorfinn
ApacheTech Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) Yep, Accessibility Tweaks adds a volume slider from 0% - 200%, and a pitch correction slider to every single sound file within the game, including any sounds added by mods. It's configurable, per player, per server. I wrote it specifically to shut the drifters up, and get rid of the weather sound effects. Edited November 9, 2024 by ApacheTech 1
