Thorfinn Posted November 12, 2024 Report Posted November 12, 2024 (edited) The reason I say it will work until it doesn't is that it will probably take a dozen keystrokes to make any place the player can stand into spawnable. They all have the following line in spawn conditions: Spoiler insideBlockCodes: ["air", "tallgrass-*", "loosestones-*"], That is, they can spawn where there is just air, where there is grass of any height, and on top of any kind of loose stones. In essence, grass and rocks become air blocks for purposes of determining spawn locations. Note this is an exception list for the kinds of blocks they can spawn in; using a chiseled floor or a slab floor does not affect the space above it. It is just looking for two contiguous valid blocks, either horizontal or vertical. All it would take to make your safe space not work is to include it in the list. I don't know what the names are, but just adding "ladder-*" or "torch-*" or "bed-*' or "decoration-wall-*" or "fence-*" would render anything like that a valid spawn location. It may not make sense to make vertical slabs or fences spawnable, but it could rather easily be done. So using fences and slabs are probably safe in terms of being future-proof, but pretty much anything else is just whistling past the graveyard. If Tyron decides something should not work anymore, it won't. With almost no effort on his part, because he's already done the hard part. I'm not terribly concerned about future-proofing my strategies. Every release is going to involve playstyle changes, and that's what they're supposed to do. The game's under active development, so anything could change. What works now seems fine, at least for me. ETA: I see that loose stones are spawnable. I don't know where my friend got the info that those worked Maybe that was added to the list at some point. It's kind of a cheat anyway. I'll do something else. You should still be able to get by covering the floor with pelts or that first piece of grass for a firepit or a torch, lit or unlit. Unless some of that is coded elsewhere. But I don't know what you could hang from the ceiling. Before lanterns, I mean. In a 2-high space filled with ground "clutter", that means it's still possible to spawn a crawler.
