Chuckerton Posted January 29, 2025 Report Posted January 29, 2025 Im starting to think its a bad omen or something, because every day, or nearly every day, for the past 2 ingame months theres been a solar eclipse. Does this happen for anyone else or is this just me?
LadyWYT Posted January 29, 2025 Report Posted January 29, 2025 What latitude did you settle at? In my temperate playthrough there's only a couple of eclipses in the spring and fall. Not sure if the eclipse numbers would be the same for other climate regions.
Brandybuck Posted January 29, 2025 Report Posted January 29, 2025 I got two solar eclipses on consecutive days. I forgot all about eclipses, and the sky was cloudy so I couldn't see the sun well, but my first thought was, "Oh joy, a bug where the game thinks it's night!". Then it fixed itself. Wasn't until the next day when it happened again that I realized what was happening. This was in creative mode where I would frequently use "/set time morning" to keep it light out while I worked. But suspect would have been same result in survival mode. 1

Basically at the same latitude i spawned it, just more east. I dont know what latitude the original world spawn was, i used console commands to change the spawn location to my house, but otherwise its around the same latitude
Robulon Posted January 31, 2025 Report Posted January 31, 2025 I'm somewhere temperate as well, currently in winter and eclipses have been happening every day or two since the late fall.
tonechild Posted January 31, 2025 Report Posted January 31, 2025 (edited) I get several every spring but that's about it. I'm also in temperate near spawn but my world was created in 1.19 and I'm not sure if world created from different version has any effect or not. They also only last like 30 seconds with only like 5 seconds in total darkness. I feel they are too frequent but also kinda wish they lasted longer. Edited January 31, 2025 by tonechild
Zane Mordien Posted January 31, 2025 Report Posted January 31, 2025 This happened to me on several days in row as well in the spring.
Robulon Posted January 31, 2025 Report Posted January 31, 2025 Update for my anecdotal evidence: after occurring very frequently during the late fall and winter the eclipses seem to have abated by April.
Herectia Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 I'm in my first winter and i have them daily now in early March. Before the winter i think i had them occur maybe 2 times in total.
Tom Cantine Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 Meanwhile, I have never ever seen the moon in any version of this game I've ever played. A couple of times, early on, I experienced the darkness of what I assume in hindsight must have been an eclipse, but the moon has never rendered.
