GeneralMc Posted March 27, 2025 Report Posted March 27, 2025 It will be my first time with this game and i was wondering if leaving the days in a month at the default 9 is a good choice or if setting it to 30 days would just make my game progress super slowly time wise
Solution Grummsh Posted March 27, 2025 Solution Report Posted March 27, 2025 Imo its best to learn the game on the default settings. Things happen slower on 30 days and you dont get to experience things as fast so its a time investment for sure. You still have plenty of time to learn and experience the game on 9 days per month - its not all that hard to prepare for winter if youre scared about that. And also if youre a totaly new to the game with no previous knowlegde you will mess up probably (just a normal process - weve all been there!) and proabably at some point in your 1st world you might decide you wanna start anew with all the knowlege youve collected to get a better start - so on 9 days per month you can get to that point with less time invested into the 1st world. just my opinion and i wish you the best of luck! And learn the game on you own pace and ENJOY! thats the best imo 2
Thorfinn Posted March 28, 2025 Report Posted March 28, 2025 The other bonus is that winter doesn't last as long on 9-day months. You don't need nearly as much food stashed. 1
Maelstrom Posted March 28, 2025 Report Posted March 28, 2025 On the other hand, there's less time to prepare for winter. I have heard that longer months actually makes the game easier. While there will only be 2 or 3 harvests before winter, there are many more days to gather wild seeds for a much larger farm so the harvests are much greater than shorter months provide. I concur with @Grummsh though. Play on default settings for a few worlds to find the settings that fit your fancy. Same goes for mods. 2

Playing at a 30 day month just gives you more time to goof off But I'll agree with everyone else here; Play for awhile with the default settings until you get a feel for things, and then branch off from there. You can always change things with a command later, but do note that changing dates will affect what season you are in
TamTroll Posted March 29, 2025 Report Posted March 29, 2025 (edited) i started on a 9 day month myself, things felt fine for the first year, but the second year felt like it zoomed by just too fast for me. So in late fall of the third year i bumped it up to 10 day months, this brought me back into Spring of that same year. figure I'll add a day to each month every year until i either hit 30 days per month, or get to a point I'm comfortable with, whichever comes first.
