VintageGirly Posted April 18, 2025 Report Posted April 18, 2025 I started a new world yesterday and I made sure to set the temporal storms setting to OFF. When I logged into the world just now I was thrown directly into a temporal storm and my sanity cogwheel thingy is at 0% Was there another setting I needed to check? Also, as a sidenote, how do I regain sanity once it reaches 0%? Thanks for any help
Hraefin Posted April 22, 2025 Report Posted April 22, 2025 This sounds like a bug, but....did you spawn into the world inside a rift maybe? The way to get your sanity back up is to kill mobs. I would suggest, if this is a new world, just try again and double-check the settings. Also, do it vanilla (no mods) just in case that is a problem. 1

I'm not using any mods yet, I'm still very new to this game :3 When I spawned into the world I spawned in the middle of a giant desert that's completely barren so I travelled very far to find a more suitable location Also I think I figured out what the problem was. I was too close to ruins, maybe? Cuz every time I walked away from my base, the sanity wheel started spinning up and when I got back to base it very quickly dropped to 0% There are 5 different little ruin thingies around my old base. I'm assuming they're what caused the issues cuz ever since I moved to a new location, my sanity is no longer going down :3 I made sure to turn off temporal storms in the settings when creating the world but was there maybe a way to turn off monster spawning as well?
wildforester Posted April 22, 2025 Report Posted April 22, 2025 Those ruins are likely in an unstable area of the world, the ruins aren't decreasing sanity (but it is fun to think you have cursed ruins). 3

Solution LadyWYT Posted April 22, 2025 Solution Report Posted April 22, 2025 Just a side note on temporal stability--as @wildforester mentioned, some chunks are unstable and will cause you to lose stability. Likewise, some chunks are stable and you'll gain stability instead, and some are neutral. The deeper underground you go, the more unstable it gets. Generally, you want to build in a stable chunk, so that you're not losing stability while loafing around your base. Otherwise, you don't really need to worry too much about your stability unless it drops to about 33% remaining; I forget the exact percentages, but that's when the bad stuff starts spawning around you. To recover stability, the simplest method is to just hang around in a stable chunk for a while. However, you can also sacrifice a temporal gear and a few hitpoints(put the gear in your offhand and use a knife with your main hand) to recover a decent chunk of stability immediately. Likewise, killing monsters will also restore some stability--the tougher the monster, the more stability that gets restored. 2

It was when I logged into the world the second time
