HeermanTheGerman Posted May 11, 2025 Report Posted May 11, 2025 So, I found a quartz vein that was so ultra preggers with silver ore, that I got 214 ingots of silver from that spot alone. Has anyone had similar experiences with gold? 4
LoveWyrm Posted May 14, 2025 Report Posted May 14, 2025 Not to THAT extent, but yes. The screenshot I shared with my friends had several people thinking it was fake cause they never even seen a single BIT of it in there, much less a vein of it. I do not have that screenshot anymore...sadly.
breeze108 Posted August 6, 2025 Report Posted August 6, 2025 Why is silver not showing up on the prospecting pick?

Density Search will only tell you what could have spawned in the chunk, not what actually did. Node Search has a very limited radius, but will tell you what ore, if any, is actually present. If you do a Node Search, it should list quartz and silver both, as well as how much of each there is present. Incidentally, the bit on Density Search is also why you can sometimes dig at a high reading spot for certain ores, and find nothing. 1

If it spawned there, then I would think it had a chance to spawn there, and therefore the density search should detect it, no? I am actually just trying in my latest start to play with the pro pick instead of x-ray(and absolutely fucking hate it still). The whole process is just very cryptic.

I don't know exactly how it works in the code, but the readouts that Density Search provides are different from what actually spawned. I'm not entirely sure why that is. I do know that I've dug for plenty of stuff that a Density Search said was there, and wasn't...and also found plenty of stuff that was there that wasn't listed on Density Search. I'd also wager that this is probably why many players have trouble finding salt domes--it's a mineral that shows up frequently on Density Search, but hasn't necessarily spawned. Magnetite is another frequent offender. 1
Facethief Posted August 6, 2025 Report Posted August 6, 2025 I dig at the spot and 90% of the time I find what I’m looking for before I hit something impassable. Staring at the wiki page for ore generation has imparted knowledge upon me completely unrelated to my actual comprehension of said page.

I see a wooden structure on the right... And from the structure, I might assume that a) You're using the Ancient Dungeons (Th3Dungeon) mod or b) You're using the Underground Mines... I don't know about option B... but the Ancient Dungeons (Th3Dungeon) mod certainly has points where it generates Gold and/or Silver... in which case, they won't show up in prospecting because those resources are generated as loot from the dungeon. Prospecting only shows you the resources generated during world generation or mods that add resources later... but not those that generate as loot.
