Should I go in blind?

Hello fellow vintizens, I am a little ashamed to say I only just found out about this game through a minecraft youtuber called Boffy. They made a 2-hour video on the game. They struggled a lot: 30-or-so minutes of edited footage of them trying to do clay pottery, let alone fire it. Now my question is: I have seen a fair bit of stuff about how this game will work. So my title here isn't really accurate. But still: should I go in as blind as is still possible right now, or will it be too frustrating? I saw that the in-game help system is very good though. Some people suggested in their comments to change some settings, like tool durability and food spoil rate. Should I do any of that, or should "standard" be balanced even for a beginner?

All in all, I heard this game is very good. I just don't want to ruin it for myself - maybe I already did by not going in completely blind? I wonder what you guys' opinion is here. Does it matter?

Sorry if there's any mistakes, english isn't my first language.

I wouldn't say you ruined it for yourself by watching that video, having seen it I'd say there's still a lot to discover so don't worry!

Going in blind is a fun way to get into the game, keep in mind that there's a handbook in-game for a reason, you won't need any help other than that probably.

The only thing I can say is that you can set a period of time before mobs spawn, finding a place to set up at first can be a pain sometimes T-T

Jump in and learn as you go, that's what I did when I got the game. I played a good 5-6 months with no mods, just to learn the game and all its mechanics, before jumping on a multiplayer server with lots of mods. There's no right or wrong way to play this game, we all learn in different ways. Just have fun and goof around, explore the world as you go and use the handbook as much as possible for things you're stuck on. Adjusting settings for food spoilage and such, is a personal preference, and do what ever you feel comfortable with. I wish you the best of luck, and welcome to the forums, fellow Vintarian 🫡

I watched that video too, here's a link for people if they want to, and trust me he's hardly scraped the surface!

My recommendation is to still go in blind, but for the love of God, do the tutorial/first steps guide. Boffy didn't and they spent the first hour getting nowhere, the next hour figuring out shit that was in the first steps guide.

Here's my 2 cents worth...

Jump in blind.  If you decide you want some seasoned help by watching some vintage story streamers/Utoobers, stop and watch some vids.

Once you do start playing, I suggest playing vanilla to get a feel for the game AND probably more importantly, get a feel for the settings you like.  There are a mindboggingly large number of settings to customize your world.  Don't feel embarrassed or ashamed if you play a world for just a few hours and abandon it to create a different world with different settings or a fresh start coz you feel like you mucked things up so badly that you just want a fresh start.  The name of the >ahem< game, is FUN!  So do what is most fun to you regardless of what anyone/everyone else (including me) says you should do to have fun.
