Sparkle Kitti Posted March 6, 2020 Report Posted March 6, 2020 Do thrown spears despawn? And if so, after how long? Corpses also. Do the despawn slower if they have loot? Lastly do the carcasses ever go away if you don't break them and do they affect anything?
redram Posted March 6, 2020 Report Posted March 6, 2020 I think corpses despawn at the same rate regardless of loot. Drifters respawn fairly fast I think - a few minutes maybe? Animals perhaps less so. Not entirely sure.
Sparkle Kitti Posted March 6, 2020 Author Report Posted March 6, 2020 Yeah that's what it seemed. I pillared to fight some during the night and turned around and they had despawned. What about thrown spears that you can go pick up and carcasses?

I always pick them up fast unless I can't find them. in which case i never know when they despawn, if they do. Bones left from carcasses seem to hang around for many, many days. I don't know if I've ever left an unharvested carcass around that long. If I find one I didn't kill, I don't know how long it's been there. If I kill one and don't find it, well, kind of like spears I probably never do find it to know how long it hung around.

Sadly I pick up my spears right away as well but as for the carcasses: They seem to last if you can harvest them, at least the animals. I have seen some streamers killing an animal and not having a knive with them so they leave it and find it again more than 10mins later. I do think the meat does begin to go bad the moment the animal dies, so unless you don't need the meat i would harvest it as soon as possible.
Smile Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 Taken from the game code for spears: 300 seconds reference spear.json

How do you look at that info? from the looks of it he opened it in a compiler, but you could try notepad++ as well. not sure if it can handle .json data though but it would be far more lightweight than full blown development tools like Qt creator
