Hey, I have been having a little trouble getting myself to play the game, it’s currently winter and I’m getting a new base set up, but I just ain’t feeling it? Any small goal recommendation to work to? Currently I’m In the Bronze Age and no plans to go to the iron till I get a windmill.

Assuming you're playing with lore content enabled, have you checked out any of the story content yet? You don't have to actually complete the initial content if you're not yet confidently equipped, but bronze should at least let you comfortably poke around in the first location.

There's also decorating your base, if you're inclined to mess around with chiselwork. Winter has a lot of downtime, which makes it an ideal time to do things like chiseling.

If you're inclined to invest more heavily in farming, winter is a great time to go collect cuttings of fruit trees so you can plant them towards the end of winter/beginning of spring. Cuttings need cooler weather in order to vernalize, but it can't be too cold when you plant them or they'll almost assuredly all die.

Last but not least, there's always exploration. Frozen water is easier to traverse, and you can make notes of the extra resources you find. Of course, if you're really worried about the cold, you could venture into some of the caves in search of ruins and translocators. I don't recommend going too deep, as the high level monsters can overwhelm bronze fairly easily, though if you're skilled enough it shouldn't be too much of an issue if you're careful.

You can always restart lol. I have bad habit of restarting worlds frequently. I haven't even played the story quests yet and I probably have well over 200 hours total play time across various worlds. Most of the time its just me and a friend playing multiplayer, we get to winter, get stacked on food and iron, then restart and try different ways to play/change up the world settings or mods.

Currently we are doing a run where we start both start on opposite sides of the world and plan on meeting up in the middle of the map once we get enough flax for boats (its a semi-island world 50% landcover, 400% landcover scale, 25k equator distance, almost everything is connected by ocean). This way we can collect tons of different building blocks/recourses from each climate and horde them in a central island base.

The biggest benefits of restarting is playing through different world gen settings to find what you prefer. You also begin to master the early game progression which frees up a lot of time and makes things a lot less stressful early on .

At this point Building and chiseling is half the game for me since progressing through the metals can be rushed very quickly if I'm motivated. I'm just addicted to the aesthetics and the fine details of building, as well as the hours of grinding to obtain just a basic homestead. I cant wait for those colored vessels/pots in the next update lol

Travel for ~30k block towards south to get to warm climates - palm trees, new animals, you wont freeze, can grow crops and snow doesnt trigger you. I also recommend creating new world in not deafult settings - There is way to less water so best setting it up for about 20-40% land and 400% size of ocean so that you can make use of rafts and boats if you want to travel.

You won’t really be able to get a windmill until you grow bigger amounts of flax so yh winter do suck.

Install a few mods - basic game is well developed and got a lot of features etc. but there are still a lot of things missing not gonna lie

Get on a server - there are some great survival servers with mods and plugins installed. Vintage story is for now a whole different community so you dont really have to worry about griefers (even if there are claim plugins turned on on most servers)

Lets say that you don’t wanna change anything and keep playing on your current world - during winter you can catch some animals, mine, explore caves and find some translocators or simply build (although ngl during winter it is annoying) it really depends on what youve already done.

First - Welcome to the forums!!!

Second - Bad habit?  Sounds like you're having fun to me.  Don't be embarrassed by it, embrace it!  This is a GAME for crying out loud, enjoy it the way it is fun for you!

Third - Another challenge may be to have fun with the story locations.  On default settings the 2nd chapter locations (yes plural) are quite far from spawn.

Eh, I just need something to do asides building for a bit, but at the same time, I’m a little stuck since I’m out of fruit for aqua verta (that’s not how you spell “alcohol” the in game way, I know) and I’m not sure if horse radish are even around during winter, so, healing kinda an issue, so i can’t really fight and I’m just wanting for rift activity to lower again.

Not a bad idea, maybe a future small base there for the future, get some prospecting done, and find a treasure hunter, but I don’t have any plans to crate a new world till 1.21 drops. Which since it’s in pre-release stages, doesn’t seem that far off, I’m really looking forward to colored pottery, helps with organizing a lot. Mainly the molds on a vertical rack.

Well if the lore content is  not your cup of tea, then go all in with a mega project. Mid fall on my current world, so the wait time for me can be used with gathering blocks and chiselling walls, ceiling and floors. Cant seem to find anything close to a dark grey to contrast with the regular or even light grey (the regular and light doesnt have a big enough contrast for my build 😞 )

Horsetails are a flower and persist throughout the year.  Problem with aqua vitae is the bandages dry out.  I prefer linen horsetail poultices if I can' make honey sulfur poultices.

Yeah, buts it’s far cheaper, and enemies tend to come in waves (rift spawn, temporal storms) so there normally to add it to a bandage, or just have a couple crafted prematurely.

Sometimes, it's okay to take a break. I'm looking forward to the next stable update as I want to create a heavy-sea/many-island smaller customized world, so I'm taking a break from playing until it's released. I'm a newish player, but have sunk over 200 hours in so far as this is my go-to game right now, I'm a builder and collector so really excited about the new blocks and decorative options. That being said, I'm REALLY looking forward to the update, so no rush but the sooner the better, Tyron 🐻‍❄️
