grinchsneedbabies Posted October 12, 2025 Report Posted October 12, 2025 As far as I know theres no vanilla way to show death locations, but there are mods for this, I use the "player corpse" mod.

It is controlled by this setting, and you want to make sure it is set to "true": /worldconfigcreate bool allowDeathwaypointing [true|false] Whether or not the game will display a death waypoint on the map when you die. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/World_Configuration Various mods also use this. I use: https://mods.vintagestory.at/automapmarkers And: https://mods.vintagestory.at/moremapicons There are probably a few more that do death markers in more detail. Professor Dragon.

I think you misunderstood the question here, my fellow dragon. OP's game is marking the deaths on the map, however the in-game auto death marker only marks the LAST death; if you die again, it delete the current death marker and puts it on the new death spot. I've had similar stuff happen to me a few times in the past there is no vanilla way to fix that. As already mentioned, there are mods, and Player Corpse is one of them. 1

Echo Weaver Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 I don't play without Player Corpse. I don't want to lose the hassle of dying completely, but I'm absolutely not interested in having a stress timer for going back to get my gear -- or being afraid to bring useful stuff that is difficult to replace because I might lose it. Places I die are likely to be difficult to return to with a lot of hazards that might easily kill me again. Heck, I've died to wolves and had to wait out of sight for several minutes while they camped my corpse. Default settings are just not fun for me, and keeping inventory on death makes dying too trivial. Player Corpse all the way. 1
Thorfinn Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 Since you are playing with map enabled, the easiest way to deal with it is respawn, get somewhere safe, and add another map marker of your own right next to the one the game places. There was a mod a while back that retained, I think, the last 10 death markers. No idea if it has been kept up. 1 1
Maelstrom Posted October 14, 2025 Report Posted October 14, 2025 Death is enough aggravation for me plus not a lot of playing time means I invoke the sticky inventory ritual upon world creation. Solves all of these problems nicely. Thank you for attending my TobiasTalk, I'll just wander off the stage now... 1
Thorfinn Posted October 14, 2025 Report Posted October 14, 2025 According to the comments, Death Waypoints was working as of 1.20. Probably worth checking it out. 1
