webpInept Posted November 1, 2025 Report Posted November 1, 2025 In the game your character doesn't seem to NEED to sleep but they can, you don't seem to be able to get lead or zinc sickness or really just metal fume fever at all. No hyperthermia but you can get hypothermia, you don't need to drink anything, you cant get sick or get an infection, you can eat partially spoiled food without having to worry about the bacteria, you cant get splinters, you cant really suffocate, any kind of fume doesn't affect you. I'm not suggesting you add these things and I know that they aren't present because they wouldn't be fun or engaging like the rest of the game is already. I'm just wondering; what kind of problems that humans run into do seraph not have to worry about canonically? 1
LadyWYT Posted November 1, 2025 Report Posted November 1, 2025 Welcome to the forums! The only concrete answer is death, since while seraphs can die, they return to a fixed place/status in time rather than moving on to the afterlife. Otherwise, the exact differences between seraphs and humans are still unknown. 43 minutes ago, webpInept said: In the game your character doesn't seem to NEED to sleep but they can, you don't seem to be able to get lead or zinc sickness or really just metal fume fever at all. As you've already noted, the main reason a lot of these features aren't in the game, is that realism doesn't always equal fun. It's possible that some could be added in the future, should the devs wish to, but there is a lot that's handwaved for the sake of having a fun videogame. 1

Same as Minecraft. The ability to carry hundreds thousands of tonnes of materials easily. Given that the Elk's legs don't snap and the rafts and boats don't sink, maybe the Seraph is somehow nullifying the effects of mass when it is carried on their person. It certainly hasn't amped up their sword or punching ability. Edited November 2, 2025 by Professor Dragon 1

They also seem to condense matter into a neutron star level density as carrying a mountain or forest in one's bags is mind boggling to me. 1

Agreed. The "simplest" in-game explanation would be that they naturally produce something similar to a DnD Bag of Holding for anything on their person or that they can carry. That addresses both the weight and volume aspects. As to in-game why they can do that? Someone wiser than me would have to speculate. The default hand-wave in Vintage Story compared to DnD "A wizard did it!" is "Jonas tech. enabled it!" One alternative is that everyone in this universe has these abilities. Perhaps because matter in this universe is not the same as ours is now (everything is a cube, for example). Maybe in this universe VS stone blocks do really weigh a gram (would explain the floating mountains maybe) and solid matter is inherently "squishable." Out of game, it's obviously a simplified game mechanic, because otherwise inventory management would be a . . . burden. Professor Dragon. Edited November 5, 2025 by Professor Dragon
