apparently the honey locust tree has edible seedpods. please add these trees to the game. the pods look kinda like long peapods but with like 10 or more beans in them. the trees are a bit thorny you do have to approach with caution.

also comes in a thornless variety too. i got the BELOW INFO from a tree farm site. i like that it has flowers on it too.

also maybe add mulberry trees too cuz they are also edible. i had one at my old house.

Honey Locust
Great nitrogen fixer. Grass and crops reported to be greener at base of the honey locust.

The seed pods and beans are reported to be sweet with a high sugar content.
Experimenting done in the 1940’s with animal feed report over 250 pounds of pods per tree.
Wth 35 trees per acre that equates to 8700 pounds per acre of forage.
Compared to approx 2000 pounds of corn per acre, that’s 4 times more animal fodder.

The Thornless Honey Locust is a fast-growing tree that thrives in Zones 3 to 9, reaching heights of 30 to 70 feet.
Known for its attractive, fern-like foliage and long, flat seed pods, this drought-tolerant tree provides excellent shade and wildlife habitat.
It blooms with fragrant greenish-yellow flowers in late spring and prefers well-drained soil in full sun.
Suitable for urban landscapes,  large gardens, pasture and forests.

Mulberries feel very old-fashioned in a good, vintage story way. It'd also be cool to have a fruit tree which produces berries.

As an added bonus, white mulberry leaves are the food source of silk-worms. Mulberries would make a great addition, at the time when the devs want to add weaving and better textile systems. I'd love to have mulberries, silkworms and silk.

Cultivating mulberry treas & silk worms for late-game textile crafting sounds like an amazing idea, tbh. You'd want to make it something that requires a lot more time & processing than other textiles like flax & wool

There's not a lot of East-Asian representation in BT so far, so that feels like it could make an incredible inclusion for making high-tier fabric (Chinese & Japanese era appropriate  clothing perhaps?? My seraph craves a fancy kimono for celebrations)

was not thinking about the old fashioned aspect but yeah it does fit the theme of VS very well. also i THINK the silkworms are TECHNICALLY edible too so they also could be a food source. roasted with salt grubs do kinda have a buttery, popcorn-ish flavor. i know from doing this myself. mom was horrified when she found out LOL.

i would love more string alternatives. i personally put up a request for a spinning wheel to be added for wool and other things like that so the silkworm silk would go well with this too!!!

In the interview they talked a bunch about how they really want to re-do the textile side of things. I'm really hoping we end up with a spinning wheel and a loom. With various complexities resulting in either more materials or a higher quality result. Once that's in it's all about different ways to get the raw materials.

I really doubt they add any more "free" food sources in the game. They've been trying their hardest to make sure we're starving for the first year 😂

it do seem like that but if you don't mind meat you don't REALLY starve unless you suck at the game. now if you wanna roleplay as a vegan peasant then yeah you can just wait for your death LOL.
