Hello everyone!

I took a short break after the announcement of version 1.22, and I’ve been checking daily for a stable release.

Does anyone know if the current versions are worth starting over with, or is it better to wait a few more weeks or months?

I've been watching Ashantin 3 play her new 1.22 world on Youtube... so far things appear fine.

I'm still holding off till stable in case something changes with dungeons that requires a new/updated chunk... and for Knapster to be updated.

Have fun

With any new patch introducing new mechanics, I always think it's a great idea to play with the new mechanics in creative before you waste a lot of time and resources being confused in survival.  I plan to do that myself with 1.22 soon!

I also plan to start a new world in 1.22.

If you want to go ahead and dive in, it should be stable enough to do so. I've not really run across any bad bugs or anything. It's possible that there could still be some last minute additions to dungeons or berry bushes(I think a couple of the new tropical bushes might be missing), but that may or may not be a dealbreaker for you.

I think the bigger factor is whether or not you want to play with mods, and which mods if the answer is yes. Mods tend to be a little dicier and many mod authors prefer to wait for a stable release before updating, so if you're looking to play a more heavily modded game you might want to wait until stable.

The only really bothersome bugs I know of are issues with putting some tools in the forge for quenching/tempering, and buckets sometimes disappearing when you're handling more than one. The former means you can't further upgrade some tools, the latter is annoying enough that I've been making sure to put filled milk buckets down so I'm only ever handling one at a time.

I kinda like figure things out in survival - it has its own appel.

It's best to wait for a Stable release because the Unstable is, well, unstable! It's entirely possible a new unstable patch could completely delete world files for no reason.

If you want to play Unstable, best practice is to learn how to backup your saves and do it regularly, and not to get too attached. Perhaps play in creative so you can enjoy messing around with the new features, then when Stable releases, you can play for real in survival. I really like exploring new blocks for building, myself.
