vinnland Posted October 30 Report Posted October 30 15 hrs into a new game of 1.22.7 and everything is going right. I have two nodes of borax (for leather) I am next to bauxite. I have very high copper, tin and iron within 1000 blocks of my base. I have 3-4 very large brown coal veins Lots of animal spawns. Honestly, the best start I've ever had. 5 1
Kiler_ Posted Saturday at 03:11 PM Report Posted Saturday at 03:11 PM How far away is limestone or chalk? I have to go about 1250 blocks away to a limestone desert. It's ok since I don't have to go there that frequently for mortar, unless I want to build something with limestone blocks to the athstetics. 1

My base is sitting on limestone. It's everywhere. Not much chalk though.

Honestly, the best start I've ever had. Notably missing - bees. Hard to make lanterns without dem bees. With the exception of bauxite I've had a seed like that myself. Bees were close while bauxite was about 1,500 blocks south. Iron doesn't seem to be as sparse as it was prior to 1.18/1.19. Edited Tuesday at 11:25 PM by Maelstrom 1

Because I mean...bears and wolves are animals, but I don't want lots of them near my base. All in all though, nice start. The only "flaws" I can think of, that haven't been mentioned, are rapids for water power, and story locations. Regarding the latter, it's not the locations themselves, but rather what you may need to do in order to actually get to them. If there's an ocean or two in-between, or a lot of rough terrain, that could make for harsher travels than what's typical. 1
Teh Pizza Lady Posted Tuesday at 02:21 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:21 PM Peridotite and olivine. Need those to make tier-2 refractory bricks. Those don't spawn anywhere near limestone and bauxite. Good luck on your travels! 1
vinnland Posted Tuesday at 02:36 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 02:36 PM Good point. Defo missing olivine and Bee's. But I ALSO found 2 large patches of fire clay. That is the first time I've seen Fire clay in the wild. About animals - I have lots of deer, goats and boars. So many! I also have lots of wolves so I made a nice Bow.
vinnland Posted Tuesday at 02:37 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 02:37 PM Quote are rapids for water power Say what now? water power?

Only the rapids are strong enough to power a water wheel--other streams of water just won't do. Water wheels aren't quite as fast as a windmill at full speed, however, their main strength is that they provide a consistent source of power. 2 hours ago, Teh Pizza Lady said: Those don't spawn anywhere near limestone and bauxite. Except when they do. Bauxite and limestone often occur together, but peridotite can be rather hit-or-miss. 1
vinnland Posted Tuesday at 06:10 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 06:10 PM I've never made refactory bricks before. Maybe ill hunt for some Peridotite and olivine. But before that I need to find me a rapids. Because it's going to take a while for my flax to grow on 30 day months.
Maelstrom Posted Tuesday at 11:27 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:27 PM Technically you only need quartz and bauxite to make tier 1 refractory bricks. But they'll break a lot quicker than the tier 2 that adds olivine to the mix. 1
