How far away is limestone or chalk? I have to go about 1250 blocks away to a limestone desert. It's ok since I don't have to go there that frequently for mortar, unless I want to build something with limestone blocks to the athstetics.

There are also lore books that can be found in ruins or less commonly, through panning, especially boney soil from ruins. As far as what's the point, it's to have fun. For me, it's the exploration and trying to develop my creative side. I'm good at technical builds, but they look like ass. I want something functional that also looks good.

It could also be the phase the moon is in. If it's waning crescent/new/waxing crescent it might be hard to see. I'm still waiting to see an eclipse. *sigh*

My issue with berry bushes is if the clipping doesn't mature by winter it loses all of it's traits. I had quite a few good clippings planted later that by spring lost all of their traits, whether by design or a bug. It's not a huge loss since, aside from just having them grow, they don't add much other than another source of rot and making alcohol.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for exactly, but you can change your character name in clientsettings.json under the "playername": entry. For items to add to the game, vertical clutches and/or more vertical mechanical power options. I like to hide thinks behind the scenes and it kind of gets clunky when it comes to transmissions and having to go horizontal for at least 3 blocks to place one. Quenching really needs a tweak too. It's extremely frustrating to having something shatter on the first quench.

Back to the topic, I got into Vintage Story from watching GeminiTay play, then mostly watched how to videos related to VS until I saw Solstin's 100 Days in Eisenholm compilation and binged them. Now I wait for new videos to drop since they're always entertaining. Then the YouTube algorithm suggested Mahjong Blonsky's interview video with Tryon and Saraty which lead to watching Ashantin 3 after she was mentioned. I like her videos since she uploads almost daily and the video length is just right for the upload frequency. Now I'm binging Kurazarrh's Vintage Story Guide Season 3 and am almost caught up. Once I'm caught up on I'm really excited to watch the Solstin/Mongster collab. One channel I would like to see uploading again is Mischief of Mice. I like his style and his videos were pretty informative, especially when I had no idea how different game mechanics worked (and still don't)

So you already have peanuts in game, you can bake bread, add a recipe for peanut butt and jam sandwiches. Heck, you have pigs, you can make cheese, ham and cheese sandwhiches. OMG I'M A GENIOUS! /or just had too much mead.

So, how many game crashes did you experience whilst running ConfigLib?

I like using short flowers around skeps so I can see them easily, then taller flowers around the edges. I'm not doing that this time and going with Purple Lupine as the main flower since they're a pretty shade and there are a lot of them growing nearby. Using different flowers in an expanded brewing system would be pretty nice. It would give them more use than just looking pretty, but each recipe would need to have more than one flower type that can be used. One thing I'm not a fan of is sometime having bad luck on a seed and the nearest deposit of something is several thousand blocks away (I'm looking at you limestone and borax).

Nice layout, how did you get the roof shaped like that? Good work on the support beams. It's always a pain getting them to line up correctly. Just like in real life...but without the dishes to clean.

I managed to get a few pairs of pigs breeding, and with growing a bunch of flax, have a really good supply of meat now. While the pigs are gestating I'll switch crops to cabbage for the next harvest and process most of the boars and half the females to keep the population manageable. Then I'll make a bunch of meals from 12 meat and 12 cabbage and move them to sealed crocks in the basement. That will get me through winter and into spring before doing it over again. I'll also mix in any berries/fruit to make jams that have a very looooong shelf life. The first winter is always the worst. That's usually whatever I can find, mostly mushrooms and fish, and sometimes bushmeat if I'm not using it for bait.

I thought I read somewhere (it might have changed), that the game will refresh timers when you revisit chunks. Reopening the world from inside the chunk would definitely force it to refresh.

Thank you! Not to necro an old thread, but this still works, and the googles did nothing on searching for it. I think I had to go through two or three threads on the forum before finding this. I'm not sure what happened for me, when I got to the top of the Devastation Tower, the Mad Crow was nowhere to be seen. After restarting the game, waiting 10-15min, leaving the area, sleeping and coming back, etc. Nothing worked. Going back to the top, then running that command spawned Erel in a few seconds. I saw other mentions of her flying away at 50% health but I had to take her down to 5% before she flew off and I could pick up the Lens.
