ACE Posted February 3, 2018 Report Posted February 3, 2018 Hello I have found some bugs on the mac release for this game. 1) The game is not optimized and does not run well for mac. 2) In game the mouse curser will not be in focus of the window and move outside of the game window after attempting to move. The mac is on OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6, the specs are: 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB It can run Minecraft well, even with many mods having no problem.
Tyron Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 hi @ACE, thanks for the feedback, I've just released 1.5.0.2 which should fix the mouse issues. The performance issues probably come from the retina display having a very high resolution. For this there is now also a Resolution slider in the graphics settings. If you put it at 50% your game should run better again.
copygirl Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 Also, if you happen to run in windowed mode, I've read that fullscreen runs a lot faster.
Agentwolf Posted May 15, 2019 Report Posted May 15, 2019 I have still the problem. Mousecursor is not on point. W,A,S,D, is hanging sometimes so the char is walking always in one direction. Its not playble.
Tyron Posted May 15, 2019 Report Posted May 15, 2019 Aw. What version of MacOS and what hardware are you on? I wish I had a macbook where this problem happens as well, I cannot reproduce it here.
Agentwolf Posted May 15, 2019 Report Posted May 15, 2019 (edited) I use macOS Mojave on a Macbook Retina 2015. Edited May 15, 2019 by Agentwolf
Tyron Posted May 18, 2019 Report Posted May 18, 2019 Is there any chance I could look into myself that using Teamviewer? Perhaps together with a call over discord chat. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this. I can perfectly understand though if you would prefer to not do that. Same question also to you @ACE, if you still have mouse issues.
Agentwolf Posted May 19, 2019 Report Posted May 19, 2019 (edited) @Tyron I created a video. Here you can see what i mean. Walking and interact without pressing a button. Edited May 19, 2019 by Agentwolf
Tyron Posted May 20, 2019 Report Posted May 20, 2019 Thanks for the video. There's 2 ways to go about this, I'm happy with both ways, only depends whats you'd prefer You can request a refund and perhaps far in the future I come across some hardware where i can reproduce this bug We begin a somewhat arduous path of finding this issue. It would require me to make a a special build for you that print debug information to narrow down the cause of the issue, and probably repeat that a few times. The success chance to finding and fixing it is likely to be decent, but not 100%. If you alright with doing quite some testing I'll go ahead and make the special build. Let me know!
Agentwolf Posted May 20, 2019 Report Posted May 20, 2019 Ok. I dont want to refund. Lets find the Bug. The Problem is my english is not the best.
Tyron Posted May 22, 2019 Report Posted May 22, 2019 Yup, I already added some debug logging to v1.9.7 for that. Will release today.
Agentwolf Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) @Tyron , The bug is still there, whats the plan now? Edited May 23, 2019 by Agentwolf
Tyron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Right, forgot to response. Can you run the game, walk around for a while like you did in the video (also do some block breaking please), then send me the client-debug.txt please. That file now contains extra information on the key press events.
Tyron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Open the Finder, then in the menu Go => Go To Folder... and there you type: ~/.config/VintageStoryData/Logs
Agentwolf Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 @Tyron https://pastebin.com/Zqj1UWpy I hope this can help you.
Tyron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Thanks! Hm, its a bit hard to read, could you do only the following actions for me, in short strokes (order doesn't matter): Walk forward Walk left Walk right Walk backwards Jump + walk forward Jump + walk left Break a block Place a block Walk forward + left Walk forward + right Then exit and send me the client-debug.txt again please. Like this: Reason for this: I am currently trying to find out if the keystrokes correctly arrive in the game engine in order to find out if the game engine is the problem or a 3rd party library (OpenTK)
Agentwolf Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 @Tyron https://pastebin.com/iMD4LsKc The bug is not from the beginning. Just after a few minutes.
Tyron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Oh I see, so the last log entries (https://pastebin.com/iMD4LsKc) was from the beginning where everything worked? If yes, can you repeat the same thing after a few minutes please?
Agentwolf Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 @Tyron at this position (16:42) is the bug beginning. https://pastebin.com/N9Y0jJtV This is the complete log. https://pastebin.com/qrJUijUL
Tyron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Ooookay, thats some interesting values! Looks like an issue in the game engine. I will add more logging to the parts where I suspect there could be a problem.
Tyron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Ok, can you install this version please and repeat the same experiment: http://account.vintagestory.at/files/pre/vs_update_1.9.8-pre.1.exe
