Gamer62
All night i hear the groans of the drifters. What about if you are in your house and the doors are shut .. It blocks the noise of the drifters ,Till you open a door or chop a block out. Just like when you dig down when mining and you block the hole above you with a block and it cuts off the sound of the weather. which brings me to... Windows that can be opened and shut,That way we don't need to open a door just a window to hear if any creatures are lurking 1
Streetwind
The problem is, the doors are actually 'open' all the time. As in, they have a window in them. That window doesn't have glass. It's just an open hole. Which is why, for example, the noise of the weather is clearly audible through closed doors if you are near them. Gamer62
@StreetwindYes but even if you take the door out and replace it with a block you can still hear them. But i see what you mean about the doors..I don't think we will get glass in them but maybe a solid door later..But still closing a door should stop or drop the sound
caffeine9999
Yeah doors are always "open", which is really inconvenient and leads to bugs and weird behaviors like this: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/596 Even worse, drifters' groans are audible even in perfectly airtight rooms through many layers of dirt/stone. Again, there is an open bug for it: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/595 I'm also looking forward to have it fixed Edited December 18, 2020 by caffeine9999 typo
redram
The problem is not that the door model happens to depict a window. The problem, as I understand it, is that recognizing 'your house' is extremely cost prohibitive for the processor. Right now Tyron has been placing a limit of 'discreet spaces' being a 7 block cube (cellar, greenhouse). He's hoping to maybe optimize that at some point, but still, space calculations - especially non-cubic ones - are expensive. And chiseling can play havoc.
