tony Liberatto Posted March 22, 2018 Report Posted March 22, 2018 As all can see my talents do not extend to design, but it can give an idea. The information would be useful in many ways. The first thing is for the player to know if the server is online or not. Second It tells you what version of the game that particular server is using. Third how or bad is the player's connection to the server. Lastly, if anyone is currently online on the server. If is done I hope is a better design than what I did.
Stroam Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 What would also be really neat which not even minecraft has, is if when connecting to a server it automatically downloads the mods the server is using.
tony Liberatto Posted March 23, 2018 Author Report Posted March 23, 2018 When missing the mods and trying to join a server that's the error that shows up: For a layman player that's Greek. Better say, "Missing Mods, or wrong Mod Version". We need error popups that actually help the player solve the problem himself, instead of spamming the forum with crash logs.
Tyron Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 Yea thats really really needed, made an issue for that here: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/32
Tyron Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 Ok, I just went ahead and implemented this right away. The client will now tell you which mods you're missing and deny connection. Will be in 1.5.2.3!
Milo Christiansen Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 Please tell me that it doesn't deny connections if the client is missing a server-only mod...
Stroam Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 separate client and server side mod directories? or maybe list of all mods with client side stuff generated by the game?

tony Liberatto Posted May 27, 2018 Author Report Posted May 27, 2018 This post is still relevant. I really wish the Devs could dedicate some time to work on it.
