Also YES the demographic is MINISCULE because we spend 20 bucks on the game, hop on expecting that more detailed survival experience we were promised only to find a slightly complicated minecraft demo with no combat or system in place for survival with pvp and its really just a distraction for them to show you the cool story, so then we stop playing, I made the foolish mistake of getting really hyped for this game and hoping to see truly impressive civilizations with mechanics incentivizing every role so I bought 20 whole copies to start handing out to my friends and clan mates (I did get a massive bunch of money so it was mildly less dumb of an impulse buy). Every single one of us but like 3 though have stopped playing the game. A combat overhaul does absolutely nothing to you but does absolutely everything for us. And again, this is all pretending it did affect acquisition of materials, which it doesnt.
-
Combat changes affect if you swing your sword left to hit a sheep and kill it instantly or if you swing it right to kill it instantly, and has absolutely 100% zero affect on anything outside of killing things to farm so in other words only hunting for which you literally use a bow anyway, any and all creatures wouldnt be able to be blocked like a melee slasher anyway so the combat for that is still the same of hit it and try to weave out of the way, the only possible differences is maybe your swing does a little more damage if you lean into it or one swing has half an inch more range than the other but it wouldnt actually matter.

For the few whom I saw saying something about it, no, a combat overhaul doesnt affect building, animations or directional attacks have zero impact on placing blocks as placing blocks has nothing to do with directionally attacking things, you will not be fighting anything when you are building unless you are existing within 100 miles of a moose or actively choosing to agro local wildlife. A combat overhaul just means that when you choose to commit to fighting there is a little complexity to learn so that some players are given the option to become pvp players for pvp and faction and civilization servers. And an overhaul needs to be something involving some degree of nuance, adding "variety" means nothing, players will simply grab the meta weapons and whack each other and whoever has more people wins. If you made it even just as simple and shallow as last oasis' combat system that would do wonders for servers involving any pvp or civilizations which at this current time sieges look like 6 heavily armoured guys walking into a town and hitting maybe 4 or 5 other heavily armoured guys for 15 to 30 minutes basically just sitting there clicking as fast as possible and maybe walking in circles to hope the other person misses. I kid you not, there is enough time to have a conversation or run away for 20 minutes straight and hide behind a door or something that would be locked by the bulwark mod. Even if you have one single person surrounded by 3 people in the later game its just one person still sitting there with plenty of time to have a cup of tea. I stopped playing this game forever ago and I will come back when they add genuinely anything that makes multiplayer factions bearable.

Looking for a server to join and play with other people

If you want a server where rules are made by player governments or are after that Minecraft civilization mood I recommend Bulwark Civ server -

We are recruiting for our group in the server named above. We are the Hozai and have a monarchy system with nobles and economy etc. The server uses reinforcing and locks instead of land claims and there's free pvp at all times. So we have PvP players act as guards and military making sure everyone is safe, role-players decorating and livening up the cities, and PvE players gathering resources and materials with room for many more niche playstyles.

I think my Buddhist fantasy based nation could beat em both

Be sure to include real evidence. I know for a fact some of the people in the community consider any level of PvP "Harassment" and small theft or buildings they dont like as "Griefing". Make sure not to just be banning people over some random unfounded accusation but keeping an eye on them isn't a bad plan.

We now have a discord to make it easier to find us We are a large group that will play on any server so long as it has no land claims and freedom of PvP https://discord.gg/c8vPmctDad

There is a huge desire for good civilization servers, with player driven consequences, where through skill or wordplay or job you can make your mark on history. And that desire gets crushed by combat devolving into a whack with metal contest that requires and asks for zero skill and that guarantees the win to whoever is best equipped.

I have a server I am in with very few rules, roleplay heavily incentivized but not enforced so everything has real player choice and consequence. On there I run the nation of river and mountain dwelling warrior monks and villages. We are a spiritual focused themed group but have all sorts of people in our group, fair warning that means the guards might be tryhard meta gamers and the monks might be super loony roleplayers who know little to nothing about the game, and the peasantry in between are all sorts of personalities and vary in experience. The servers we play on though you could be attacked murdered or stolen from anytime if you stray from the protection of our guards or city walls.

Imma drop this copy paste from another comment that may or may not apply or pique your interest I have a server I am in with very few rules, roleplay heavily incentivized but not enforced so everything has real player choice and consequence. It sounds like you have your own server but sounds like it was a while ago so if that went sour and you wanna start again we need roleplayers to breathe life into our villages

Looking for a casual or RP server I could join!
Azi Karnage replied to Rainer's topic in Multiplayer
Also as far as size our group started 4 days ago and while we are a large empire of 16 to 30 people, we only have maybe 3 to 10 on at a time, and other nations are much much smaller, so like tbh server just started and we need people to join it and spice things up anyway you dont even have to join our team -

We are a large civilization based on the concepts of Sohei and medieval Japan. We have a rank structure and space for all playstyles as we want to have a diversity of roles and personalities. We have a heavy focus on natural roleplay and religion, the roleplayers are typically priests and help breathe life into the villages, the villagers are casual players or new people learning the game that are taught and led by nobility, nobility are in charge of their respective villages and manage funds and respawns and the local military which is usually made up of the more quiet practical tryhard players who simply want to do pvp. We also have a unique military force of sohei monks who adhere to a strict dress code and honor system but are the nations most mobile fighting force, entering every conflict possible to protect our interests abroad and at home. (This is probably one of our more low effort posts cuz I am a bit tired but also we need builders and pvp players at the time of making this) IMPORTANT MENTION We will absolutely not participate in any servers with ridiculous rules about pvp (Like consensual pvp only cuz "nuh uh" rule sucks and is literally not real pvp) or that has land claims, we fortify our cities and police our territory with REAL players, PLAYER CHOICE is a MUST, other wise there is no real tension or consequences. The rest of this post is gonna be a yap session you can ignore for now but contains a glimpse of the customs and policies. If you are interested message me here and pray I know how to work this website or add me on discord @azikarnage Aka The Cultist, I can also be found in the official discord. I. Laws of Conduct (Behavior and Morality) Reverence for Life – No living creature shall be harmed without necessity. Animals and villagers are to be treated with dignity. The Path of Truth – Lying, deceit, and betrayal are forbidden. All subjects must speak and act with honesty. Discipline of Desire – Greed and hoarding are discouraged. Share resources when able and take only what is needed. Peace Above All – Quarreling and unnecessary violence are dishonourable. Resolve disputes through dialogue or through your local monk. Laws of the Land (Territory and Resources) The Land is Sacred – Do not scar the landscape needlessly. sporadic mining and excessive deforestation are discouraged. Replant trees and refill holes. Temples are Invulnerable – Structures dedicated to meditation, monks, or the divine may not be destroyed or altered. The Waterways are Lifeblood – Rivers and lakes must not be polluted or dammed unless for noble cause (e.g., irrigation or sacred gardens). III. Laws of Society (Hierarchy and Justice) Honor Your Liege – The Monarch is the living embodiment of the realm’s spirit. Disobedience to royal decree is treason. The Order of Things – Subjects are divided into Nobles, Warriors, and Peasants. Each have their duties and their rights. Warrior’s Code (For the Sohei) Die with Honor – A warrior shall never flee in cowardice. Death in battle for the kingdom or its people is the highest glory. Silence Before the Storm – Before any raid or war, warriors will make a silent prayer to bless the souls of their allies and enemies alike. Respect of Tradition - Warriors will maintain their appearance (medium or light armour and a white hood) and not attempt to don shiny or heavy armour. Peace Abroad - Warriors will maintain their skills by participating in as many conflicts as possible for whatever sides support the peace and stability of the region or that protect the Sangha (Religous Monks)
