I'll use firewood for cooking if I have to, or where it is required. But other than that, it is reserved for charcoal making, and I rely exclusively on peat for cooking meals. More often than not I get large patches of peat, and I dont stop digging till I get every peat block back to base, then look for more to stash away, or to mark on the map.

If choosing between firewood and peat for cooking, peat always wins out, and I always keep it in storage at my base. Making a point to mark any other patches with peat as well.

Vintage Story download flagged by Microsoft Defender?
Dilan Rona replied to Cuddla's topic in Discussion
Windows does do that to all external executables downloaded from the internet. Vintage story is safe. And you can only get that from the account section in any case. Anywhere else would be suspect. -
Are Mods Checked Before People Are Able to Download Them?
Dilan Rona replied to AlexisHearts's topic in Questions
cool looking site. I bookmarked it. Thank you, @Thorfinn -
And the benifit of the corpse mod is that your inven will remain safe till you can reclaim it later on. No timer on it.

Planted trees around my house, now wolves and bears?
Dilan Rona replied to vinnland's topic in Suggestions
Well I dont have much of any trees on my current map (yet), lots of birch shrubs though, and have a bit of a wolf problem (meat for later in the winter, so I just trap them), and also the occational brown or black bear near my base. -
Also since we are talking about a demo version, a specific map that is tied to the demo version would help a lot as well.

If after an hour you still havent bought the game, you are unlikely to do so. Imo, an hour is more than enough to get your feet wet and see what the game is about.
-
You can set the despawn timer to an hour max, but in your case I would suggest Player Corpse instead. Works great, and saves the last 10 death inventories in the unlikely event a corpse doesnt get created or somehow got destroyed for some reason (Only lost 2 corpses so far under very unusual circumstances, born out of my own stupidity with regards to commands, and I can guarantee it will always spawn a corpse).

Creating paintings with painting utensils

This might work. But its been a while since it was updated... https://mods.vintagestory.at/lascaux -
did you check the spam folder? sometimes emails get sent there that doesnt belong there. @BurgTurdler

Did anyone find a solution for the tab problem? https://mods.vintagestory.at/tei looked like it may be on to something, but I dont think its a proper alternative yet.

Can the developers make a special demo version that can only be played for 1 hour? Just long enough to try the game before the person buys the game, and try to reduce the amount of refund requests being posted on the forums or support channels?
-
In a way the cellar ice does expire. I also realised that a little bit can go a long way if you manage it right. And although the crops have a very long shelf life, the same can not be said for the more perishible meats. So any means to extend the shelf life of meat before it spoils helps a lot. Especially if you are limited by the amount of meals you can make So from me, the core mods would have to be expanded foods, medieval expansion (the patched version), and primitive survival for their ability to add more methods for food (and by that I mean meat) preservation.

@OutcastAJ The official one does have a problem with crashes. Specifically with the Aurochs attack animation (and apparently the water wheels). So I suggest you use this version specifically. https://mods.vintagestory.at/medievalexpansionpatch I have had no crashes with that version, and it is recommended to use it until the official version is updated.

Except I've seen them actually attack moose before. Those wolves are mean, and got a wasp stuck in their bonnet...

Changing the dayspermonth will work. But something to keep in mind, the default is 9 days per month. Changing the dayspermonth will give the appearance of time going backwards. In otherwords, if you were on 17 August, Year 2 on your server changing the dayspermonth to 15 days could effectively change the date itself to 5 December, Year 0 (rough number, not accurate). I had that situation when I made a map on a server of mine, and changed the date from 9 days per month to 30 days. We just finished winter on our second year, and the command plonked us back into a much longer winter, in the year 0.
-
Well I guess mine must have been starving then, cause I had to drag a moose carcass out of a wolf pit on more than one occation.
-
48 boards stack per block is fine imo. I generally only use pine for planks in any case. And dont make more than 3 blocks worth of planks unless I absolutely have to.
-
dont have that problem tbh, if at all. if i see a wolf, i let them chase me into a near by pit trap, to be dealt with later in the year. Doesnt really work with bears, so when I see them, its "hunting season open" time for me. As for the occational herbevore that falls into a wolf pit trap, it keeps them fed (with the occational pup that spawns), and I just retrieve whats left of the carcass.

Tbh, my mud shack on a new map tends to have the reed baskets above the main entrance door, placed ceiling level. personally I think they are in a good spot.
-
I also use chiselled blocks in some of my builds (even my cellar). But I always make sure that it is 100% full, with no gaps.
