  1. Love the steam effect coming from the spout!
  2. Seems like the cat got your tongue? /sarc
  3. With the number of derpy behaviors fixed, I'd say @Tyronneeds to play the game a bit more often!
  4. I've heard that immature wild crops drop seeds about 50% of the time. Tilling the ground underneath wild crops will cause them to mature in a single day (not sure if this is the case in 1.16). I believe raccoons spawn when a naturally occurring log is nearby (not from a player planted tree).
  5. Slowing hunger down by 50% to 66% would have the same effect as doubling or trebling the max. It would still take 2 to 3 times longer to reach starvation mechanics.
  6. That could be part of the 1.17 update which is reportedly going to add the first story event to the game.
  7. Also consider stone walls. Does not require clay to craft (only rocks) and can be used for sides to buildings that have a different depth than blocks and vertical slabs have.
  8. I've heard that cattails are hard to find even in slightly more temperate starting zones. So far I haven't had a problem on the default temperate climate setting. Maybe set the world gen for temperate but decrease the temperature? Not sure if that kind of customization is possible, though.
  9. And this is why I wait before updating to the current version - for any balance issues to be reported and fixed. Thank you to everyone that play the news version to find those unbalanced facets of the game.

    Fire Spread

Stone walls are a great option for preventing pit kiln wild fires.
  11. Catnip? That's not part of base game. Either catnip is from a mod, the flower catMINT or (speculating) are you thinking of horsetail for healing poultices? Lime can be obtained from mining limestone or grinding seashells. Borax can also be used for the first step in tanning leather (but you'll need a bronze pick to mine borax).

    Steam

I don't know. They're currently selling almost 2,000 copies a month. Seems like they're doing pretty good as is.
  13. They don't burn. I've tried. Currently the magic of the despawn ritual needs to be invoked to be rid of these items.
  14. Unless the water logged reed roots are a different block than non-water logged roots. If those blocks are unique and separate, then we're back to waiting for the devs to working out a water-logged option for other placeable blocks.
  15. And consider that grass, sticks and torches can ALL be used for firepit fuel, why is it that only a specific configuration of those materials can burn? Maybe it's a result of whatever shattered the world and brought the temporal instability and rifts? /sarc
  16. I've heard this a lot, but I do not find anything that links temporal stability to sanity. Yes, the world goes wonky when termporal stability gets low, but given that critters appear in the world when that happens I wouldn't call it a break in sanity. Seems like other things are happening. Perhaps the next update will shed some light on temporal stability and rifts.
  17. Maybe eat a mushroom first to see if it's poisonous before you make a meal out of it?
  18. @PhiltreReading lore books does not create an immunity to stability drain. Read plenty of books and still subject to drain in unstable areas.
  19. Is this for 1.16? Coz in my world (1.15), once I trim the long grass with a scythe it's a matter of time before I'm cutting the long grass again. It takes time for the long grass to reappear on the fully green soil block, but it does reappear. I expect that long grass has a mechanic for spreading that is separate from spawning.
  20. @Streetwind Every branch I've cut from my trees don't grow back, regardless of the size. I'm no expert in things botanical as my efforts to maintain plant life usually ends up in the opposite result.
  21. Tree branches that are cut do not regrow in nature, nor should they in VS.
  22. This is one thing in VS that does NOT reflect reality when it should. I live in an area that would be considered cold starting climate and there's cattails ALL OVER but vines are pretty much non-existent.
  23. porridge can be made with grain in the first two slots of a cooking pot, no water needed. Any kind of art is possible with chiseling. Knitting is going to be limited to recipes. Check the handbook for info on those and much, much more!
  24. Four windmills connected to a single large gear are definitely enough to power three helve hammers (provided wind his high enough). I've got such a setup and when wind was high I had trouble keeping iron blooms on the helve hammers.
  25. I believe that tilling wild crops is OP if one takes the settle early path, especially if one protects the newly tilled crop. Given the speed with which the wild crop matures, I would expect this is unintentional game behavior and a bug. I would expect that tilling wild crops should either harvest/destroy the crop or cause it to continue maturing at a rate similar to if it had been planted on tilled soil.
