  1. Most of that negativity is by relatively recent players. I've yet to see anyone that has started playing prior to 1.19 express these fears and negativity. Additionally, a lot of the comments expressing "concern" assume they know the internal workings of Anego.
  2. Just say no to GMO seraphs!
  3. Question is - do seraphim poop?
  4. I have occassionally had corpses not finish the loot loop, usually because of some grass that the knife targets (and we all know how easy it is to butcher grass). Best thing to do is stop current buthering attempt and restart. If the second time doens't work, stop and restart. jk. Clear any grass on the block of the boar and attempt butchering again.
  5. I recall there may be a problem with glass slabs if they are on the top half of the block as opposed to the bottom half. If all other greenhouse requirements are satisfied but your greenhouse isn't granting the temp bonus, check that the slabs are in the bottom half of their respective blocks.
  6. Wiki is wrong.
  7. Wind is independent of regions or biomes. The only thing that impacts wind is time and altitude.
  8. Ahhhhhh yes. Coal vs. charcoal argument. It comes down to assessing: How long it takes to mine coal vs. how long it takes to harvest trees. I can harvest enough wood to fill a 6x6x4 charcoal pit in less time than it takes to mine coal without ore blasting bombs. While I'm converting one batch of iron to steal I can then run that pit a few more times. Each run of the charcoal pit is more than enough charcoal for one batch of steel. At the end of the day, I say coal vs. charcoal is a six on one hand, half dozen on the other kind of argument.
  9. Join date 1/25/25 - check. You do not have anything to worry about. From Tyron's own lips the new folks will be separate and independent of the main VS development that exists before the "Hytale" group was conceived. That other group may develop something (probably a game mechanic) that could benefit the main VS development that will be incorporated into the main game. This has happened in the recent past. In 1.20 the map went to a sephia toned map where before it was full color. That change was from a mod developed in 1.18, iirc. You haven't been around long enough to see that kind of thing happen. So take if from us old farts that you have nothing to worry about.
  10. If the bushes are just oppressively overcrowding your plains, might I suggest a... ummm... quick clearing option? It involves a torch and little a bit of time. https://tse4.mm.bing.net/th/id/OIP.IHZYuBWmuWm7iKt7CRpyBwAAAA?r=0&rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain&o=7&rm=3 Burn, baby, burn!!!
  11. I think he's just frustrated with a bunch of relatively new people to the community spouting off; acting like they know a thing or two about stuff they know absolutely nothing about (primarily how workload is handled). Frankly, I am frustrated too. That's why I decided to stop responding to those posts, mostly coz I don't like what I see coming out of myself in my responses to them.
  12. Re-reading my last comment, I'm with @dakko seeing how my emotional investment is getting childishly large affecting how I post in a less than mature way. At this point it seems locking this thread would be prudent.
  13. Holy jumping to conclusions Batman!!! At one time in the past the roadmap had Alchemy. It no longer is on the roadmap being replaced by "Herbalism / Brewing system". The roadmap is a reflection of the current vision the dev team has for the finished product. Because the project is so ambitious taking a lot of time to complete and the vision of the devs may evolve over time the communicaiton of that vision expressed on the roadmap can, AND WILL change. What about early access do you not get? SMH
  14. Bad RNG. I've had similar luck in 1.20 and earlier versions.
  15. That info is from my muddled memory and also at least 12 months out of date. Probably more like 18 by now. The actual sales were likely from this website only and likely didn't include sales form Humble Bundle or Itchio. Sales could have easily been double to triple the estimate I mentioned.
  16. I think he may have worked a small company early in his career. But that was 30 years ago. Between then and now he worked at a couple a large companies, one of which is HP.
  17. My brother is a career software engineer. IIRC, he was usually up and running within a week or two; depending on how complex the coding situation was for that company. That includes working for government military contractors.
  18. If it takes more than a week then the coders wouldn't be worth their salt. It isn't too hard to get up to speed, mostly commenting conventions and error checking protocols.
  19. Consider Hytale... Started even LONGER in the past than VS, had a much bigger development team, much larger budget aaaaaaannnnnd... kersplash! You say you're not one to tell someone how to develop their game, and then proceed to do so. VS is being developed the way the original devs (Tyron and Saraty) envision it, at the pace they feel allows them to produce the game they envision. What they have done FAR outpaces what Hytale managed and I'd argue has outproduced even TOBG itself not talking about you @Thorfinn.
  20. Ever since I started playing on 1.14 iron and steel spears have been a delusion, pipe dream or nightmare, depending on which *ahem* entity you attempt to communicate with.
  21. Isn't that just another name for meteoric iron?
  22. Thank you @Tyron, for taking such a high degree of care with insuring Vintage Story is the quality game that it has been for the 4 years I've played. I trust and look forward to the continued development of what is by far my most favoritest game since I started playing games in 1978 on my dad's Apple ][+!!!!
  23. Glad you weren't around for the 1.17 "De-Jank" update that was sorely needed and didn't have a lot of content. Hard to say how long you've been around given your private profile, but your comment indicates you haven't been around more than an update or two. 1.20 had to pivot to performance (particularly MP performance) because of an absolutely monstrous increase in sales (300% increase) during the 1.20 development cycle and pushing of some features (like coral reefs) to 1.21. Until about a year ago Tyron would post rolling 24 hour sales figures. Projecting that number out to a month VS was selling about 1,000 copies a month, iirc. How about sticking around for a few more updates before sticking your foot in your mouth?
  24. I doubt chiseling will work like other blocks. But it's worth a shot.
