  1. Since nobody seems to have mentioned this... Density search mode on the pro-pick is not a guarantee that the indicated resource will spawn. It gives a statistical indication that it MIGHT spawn. I've had a halite reading over 30% result in no dome.
  2. As for CampaignCartographer mod? No longer supported by the author, unfortunately.
  3. Welcome to VS and the forums @smash_complex First - if you're going to make an entrance - go BIG or go home! Second, and to your point - I doubt there will be any toxic habits from people. Tyron has engineered a bunch of server options that will prevent toxic people from being toxic. Additionally, the game itself discourages toxic play. The only toxic environments would be ones that would have to proactively set up by the server owner. I have heard that anarchy servers have been set up but because of the game mechanics they tend to end up being cooperative communities with very little toxicity.
  4. I have found only 1 salt dome in the 5-6 worlds I have played. And that one was by luck digging through a wall inbetween unconnected caves because I heard drifters while cave diving.
  5. VS be like Yes, finding certain things (like bauxite, borax, bees and other non-B related resources) can be exceedingly frustrating. BTW - Welcome to VS and the forums.
  6. Welcome to VS and the forums! I like this idea. Might have some difficulty with it though since some food rots in a few days while others takes years. At what point would something turn from one level to the next? For instance if there's only 10% time left would it be red? Well, grains would turn red with over 6 months left before they begin to spoil.
  7. I did intend my comment for comedic value.
  8. Are you serious? You should realize the hilarity of you comment most of all. But to paint the picture... You're off exploring thousands of blocks from home, get elk-jacked by a bear. Spawn within 100 blocks all nekkid and afraid to figure out how to evict that bear from corpse camping your stuff. Ooooorrr... Run home to equip yourself sufficiently to deal with said murderous bear AND THEN run BACK to execute judgement upon hood critter bear with extreme prejudice. Personally, I'd prefer just running once to deal with the miscreant critter.
  9. Is the world updated to 1.20? If so, that alone could be the problem. If not, maybe the game considered the chiseled blocks part of the structure of the greenhouse (even though blocks were outside the growing area) and negated the greenhouse modifier and just isn't updating there after. I don't have any experience with greenhouses and only speaking from what others have said on the topic. Someone with more expertise may provide better answers (and hopefully will).
  10. The development team is small, like 1 part time person doing the music (to the best of my understanding). It's likely this one person has a different job and developing music for VS is a side hustle for him. The sound track is available for free download; then you can play it as you like.
  11. While VS is an earth-like world it isn't fantasy either. While the website no longer links the game directly to Lovecraft, he is a HUGE influence on this game. Lovecraft did not write fantasy, rather what happens when extra-dimensional beings affect locations on the earth and how people respond to that impact using technology or psuedo-technology.
  12. The scrub oak (pictured) wouldn't have a collision in their center. It was fun to use them as forts when I was young. As for pine trees (and larch) that have branches on the ground? They do have a trunk in the center.
  13. Those leafy blocks all over the place are bushes and provide a way to get sticks during the first day if someone is not close to a forest where sticks are on the ground. In the case of leaves on the ground? https://arborhilltrees.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Colorado-Blue-Spruce-Tree.jpg https://greenthingsaz.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Quercus_turbinella_Scrub_Oak_02.jpg
  14. Nah. H.R. Puff'n Stuff
  15. In 1.19 I've had large areas devoid of flax but heavily favor rye with some spelt thrown in for grits and shiggles.
  16. The grain/seeds dichotomy is temporary until Tyron works out a realistic production of seeds from grain.
  17. I'd like an upgrade to caves first. Some ambient noise, like echoes of water dripping into pools and some cave insects (spiders, crickets, etc) would also be nice. Lastly, let us harvest the bioluminescent vines we see, dadgummit!
  18. I haven't seen uranium or manganese show up prospecting results using density mode. I'll go on record (without looking at world gen code) that those two do not currently generate in game.
  19. Soooo, we'd have an... Elytra? no thanks
  20. Interesting idear there. I'd say make the damage as 90% of the maximum possible HP if all nutrients are at full. That would take some time to get to the point making the death penalty really mean something.
  21. There is also a couple of mods that make high fertility soil produce particles.
  22. Where I live it's a crap shoot whether the wind will precede the storm, continue through the storm or no wind whatsoever. Summer thunderstorms can be anywhere from 5 minutes up to 40 minutes and I've seen all three of those situations every single summer.
  23. The terrain generation between old and new chunks can be quite... jarring. incredibly so. Updating from 1.18 to 1.19 can also produce some very impressive terrain borders. Sheer cliff faces of 150+ blocks for instance. For an example here's a screenshot from a youtuber (Rakoona) who only updated from 1.18 to 1.19, let alone 1.17.
