1 warning, no information about the severity of the situation, of the punishment or the need to keep #vintagestory on topic. (Although I read the rules, I evidently forgot or overlooked this part.)
Id personally suggest a damage system, its been used to great effect in other servers.
Basic idea: offences cause damage, more or less damage for different offences, temporary, usually also followed by a mute.
This system is gentle and effective.
People flock to #vintagestory because it feels like a #general chat, also, I believe there should be a #general chat.
Also, I don't feel like this is draconian. This is the definition of draconian. A kick would have warranted the same desired result of reformation without the long-lasting bad taste and disdain invoked by a ban.
A mute would have worked, a show of force, any show of force would have worked.
Also, the layout remains... counterproductive. I wish the #offtopic chat was placed at the top as statistically that would be the most commonly used channel. I often have immense difficulty finding the #offtopic channel.
As I understand the severity now I would say I am reformed and will no longer flood #vintagestory with garbage.
30 days is a long time for something seemingly so mundane. I do not, nor will I ever, understand why people are banned for posting off-topic media to very few individuals. Surely there are gentler options that are equally, if not more effective, at generating the desired outcome.
tldr: why a 30-day ban is extreme and unnecessary. A 24-hour mute would have worked just as well.
I speak to you now, person to person. This is an absurd punishment for shitposting
