Yeah but something that was done historically not being added to the game yet is not at all comparable to something that wasn't done historically to be added to the game. Yeah but this is nothing but speculation, it's entirely withing the real of possibility that in ancient egypt it used to rain spaghetti but we have equal evidence for both: none. Completely ignoring the part where I said:

@MKMoose I honestly can not tell if you're on board or not because you frame the start of your post as if you are concerned it wouldn't work but then in the rest of your post a lot of the things you say are exactly what I suggested in my origional post? ''It wouldn't be a very early game mechanic because you would need a saw'' ''and of course the ice would slowly melt so it wouldn't last all year long'' ''in winter'' ''you would need a saw'' ''it would also add something for the player to do/look forward to in winter.'' ''to make your first spring fruits last juuuust a little longer'' ''to keep the temperature slightly lower aand increase the shelflife of foods slightly.'' ''the historical practice of sawing great big blocks of ice out of lakes in winter to keep their cellars more cold'' ''and of course the ice would slowly melt so it wouldn't last all year long''

No, there is no issues doing that.

Hello friends! Let me know what your go-to material is for lanterns and why! Early game I usually end up going for whatever I have on hand so usually copper, but later in game I usually go for meteoric iron kind of as a flex and because I don't use it for much else What about you guys?

Oh I love oni!! I should launch that game up again some day! Though I don't even think such complex temp exchange mechanics are required to make this work in the case of VS; the game already checks for rooms and ajusts the temprature accordingly in the case of a cellar or greenhouse, the same way this affects the spoil rates of your food it could also affect the hypothetical melting rates of iceblocks. I also wouldn't mind if the mechanic is limited for balancing reasons, for example ice only cooling down a room if it's placed on the floor and not it it's inside a container so you can't easily stack hundreds of blocks of ice for near infinite storage. And while we're speculating: I also just imagined I would totally vibe with something like a ''chilled drink'' bonus, make wine or beer be slightly better if it's cold instead of room temp.

Pot pie can be made with grain, meat and veggies and stacks in up to 32 which can each be divided by 4! Charred they will have less nutrition but will last for 12 days, great choice for a very filling ration!

And steam trains are not steam power technology that run on railtracks?

Large crucible for late game copper processing

Yeah that's a good point, I personally rarely bother making a good looking roof until I got some metal going mostly for this reason

THERE IS A FAILRATE?!?! -
PT is the only one I have seen where I am 100% confident he uses nothing but the tools he makes himself, getting all that iron from that orange goop floating on the water is crazy meticulous work but the results are in my experience completely reasonable and honestly setting everything up to try and fake it for an amount so small would probably be more effort than actually harvesting the iron XD There's some other legit channels though but none that I have seen that make proper usable iron without any modern tools at all, save for PT but ya know, he isn't exactly mass producing iron bars either

Vintage story used to be my favorite game of all time, and it currently still is! ^^

I think a pickaxe and a hammer would be the most lucky you could be, but still a great find!
-
His iron making video is legit save for the fact that the bloom he creates would be too brittle for usable iron, that's why it cuts and he suddenly has properly hammered perfectly straight iron bars, he didn't fully process the bloom likely cuz it fell apart.

well the regulat crucible already holds 128 nuggets in each slot doesn't it? That'll be enough for 25 ingots in a single pour, and you can probably heat up a 2nd batch simply in the time it takes for them to cool off -
I had a bug pop up recently where crafting recipes wouldn't show up, restarting the game fixed it might have been your case too

Yeah I guess it depends on how you define it, there is not all that much you truly ''unlock'' so to speak in lategame but I do find that the gameplay loop gradually changes as you progress and get better materials, so in a sense the late game content of VS is just a gameplay loop that has changed based on better tools available to you -
I don't think peat is used tor fuel anymore, most peat bogs are protected areas now as far as I know That being said: If you guys are concerned with realism; peatfires are a serious concern that happen irl too

A month?! Like 9 ingame days?? I'd hardly call that short man

Yeah actually, I agree with this Panning should be more something you could do in an emergency or something if you can't find enough copper, or just just have something to do while you wait for other things. It shouldn't really be turned into a very valid way of getting materials and items.

I am personally not all that worried either but I don't think it is fair to say that people who are concerned are wrong for being so. I can see both sides of the coin, I don't think a dev should be crucified for mistakes made that can be corrected, even if the ''mistakes'' were malware. People can learn, repent, improve, move on. At the same time though it's fair for people to be concerned, if this turns out to be a behavior pattern that will repeat in the future it is better to get out then to stick around and find out if something like this will pop up again. Personally rn, I'm on the forgiving side. Give them a chance to make up/do better in the future. But if other people don't have that take that is completely valid.

Celestial Navigation, Etc. Short post. Reasonable Small Suggestions.

While an accurate night sky would be really cool to see, I don't think it would have all that much practical application. If you play without a map you can already do this during the day with the sun (moon maybe too, I never tried) and also if you just remember the general diraction you'd be heading; the floor is made of perfectly straight blocks, so you can use those to easily make sure you're still going in the same direction. Also I think that most people won't usually choose to travel by night because of monsters and low visibility in general. I assumed that was already possible so if it's not then I do think that it should be Well that's just because it registers a click, how would you want the game to know that you click because you want to swing at something or that you missclicked because you weren't aiming your mouse right so this time you don't want to swing? It can't read your mind, it swings because you clicked -
