The chains are vanilla and can be found in the creative inventory, but they cannot be obtained in survival. To use them in survival, you either need the Better Ruins mod, which adds a crafting recipe for them, or you can simply take them from the creative inventory.

I’m glad you liked the build! I can’t give you an exact answer because I built this chicken coop quite a long time ago and don’t remember what size the opening needs to be for chickens or hares. You’ll need to test it while building.
