Mod Request: Air Plane, Aeroplane?
Mozzie_GWG replied to Deif's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
oooooooor? remember secret of mana.. the cannon system for travel? right up to an air base maybe... good luck with your thoughts there it sounds difficult and i have barely found tin... love to see it!! -
been playing with a lot loading and unloading mods. So it looks like your getting mods off and cleaning then do a "reinstall". goto : C:\Users\(your name will appear here)\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData (general file where you saves mods and all main player stuff is found to find your way you will have to select view in the file explorer and choose show hidden then you can find your way down the rabbit hole here) now that you are here you should see the folders named : Mods (this is where mod and changes you want for the game go. just copy paste the .zip files here) You know the mods you download from https://mods.vintagestory.at/ Cashe (this is where the loaded mod data goes) --> unpack (folder) then the items listed here are your mods that you installed. Delete them and put the new .zip mod file in the Mods folder, start the game back up and you should be fulling installed. Open the Mods option on the welcome Vintage Story screen and you should see all items placed in your Mods folder. Hope this helps and works for you!!!

Neat ideas! I am not very far into this games pretty factor or for need of heat for a warm room. The carpentry seems like fun as well, but to build the mods.. I hope your planning on doing it. Looks like your idea is a LOT more fleshed out than many of mine. So BEST of LUCK!! Some helpful advice given to me; focus on one thing at a time try not to let your best ideas get ahead of what you are attempting to do.

Mod Building .. the beginners frustrations
Mozzie_GWG replied to Mozzie_GWG's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
thank you all for the replies. these are all very helpful thoughts and great encouragement for the project. @Echo Weaver you are right i am building next to or on top of another side project so right now this is all fun and games while the ADHD hold my attention. @Diff it is nice to see that it is early day issues with the learning curve, and the ai is being a teacher not so much as writer. I copy a section and paste it in then the million errors i sit and slowly work out to figure out this language that i don't know. Looks mostly like its a syntax thing. Anyway thank you for the thoughts. @Caellian methodical. That is a solid points you make i should do something better in a planning stage, err have one besides "the next GREAT IDEA!!". So i am looking at a whiteboard now and cause of my era i will use my physical media to help plan this mod crazy thoughts that just pop in to my head. Back to it... but first play the game for a while -
Maybe they need to add in some more minor fauna like chipmunks and the like to eat those grains up. Haven't found rice ingame yet but hope it grows in water and maybe the IF it does add some fishes that live there. Just thoughts.

Just asking if anyone else making a mod of any kind is ever faced with, oops i forgot this... and then this... next you know your up to version 58439 and don't even know how you got there? As a serious coding beginner (as in; thank god for ai help) it is almost like falling in one of those video holes, where hours of what amounts to wasted time goes by with nothing to show for it but a full bladder and a mess of a file structure that needed some love long ago. The point is it just me or are you recompiling all day just to get the bed to set your spawn point as you sleep. Just to then watch the game version update past what you finally got to (sorry, getting off track again). I just wonder since i am new to the mod creation or editing scene, is it always so frustrating? I hope not.. As I pull out what remains of my hair... I find the accomplishments are worth it when the damn thing runs even for a little bit. An example of what i am working on NOW can be found https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/33101 as it is a draft and the server accepts only like 16 people.. Lots of work ahead and good luck to the rest of you starting like me or the pro.

@JaceAurelius i think you're correct about people creating mods for races and classes. I currently am working on my own such items. But that seems to be the nice part of this game. They gave us a framework to mess with, and now it is tailored to what that individual wants, or if sharing the mod.. others wants too then. Part of what currently has me hooked. Now that i did a THING and updated a bed spawn mod to work in the 1.21.4. >> Overall it does give something to do outside of the daily survival. Like oh crap i have to chop down trees or grandma freezes, now the question of am i a terrible person who is already surviving. So gives the user extra options that they don't have to have or even acknowledge.

Got a mod breaking issue so here is the report. But the main thing is if you play solo it shouldn't have issues. But other people around and using the system will break it. Working the fix now unless wife aggro wins, and it will as always. Why it brOkEs Common culprits: Global static fields in your pad logic (e.g., a single currentPad or Dictionary<string, BlockPos> without handling multiple entries). The 2nd player overwrites the first. Non-unique labels: if both players use the same label (“Home”), your code may “find the first” (or the wrong) pad or even find itself and do nothing. No per-world registry: using statics without scoping to the world will conflict on reload or across threads. No deregistration on break/unload → the registry points to dead pads, so teleport lookup fails.

Mozzie_GWG started following vsTeleport Mod
-
o/ all Since i don't know much on mod making i had a ton of ai help, but here is the start of a teleporting mod. I see that stuff is already in game or part of a pack i picked up. Well i wanted a simple teleport mod so here we go. Just combine 4 metal ingots in a square and you get a teleport pad .. get 2 of these pads and name them the same thing (like mine23) and step on and it pops you through. I thought it was a good idea after i followed some book that lead me to a coal mining complex almost a weeks travel away. So in Valheim(game) style the vsTeleport mod was created. Please let me know your thoughts, it isn't a finished product but it works in its current configuration. Which is already saving me a BIG run. Go here ( https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/32664 ) if you want a copy or i attached to this post as well. Happy Gaming ALL! vsTeleport_v2.7.zip
