EG AS Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 (edited) i kinda just want to explore and survive harsh enviroments rather than fight waves of 8 little guys that throw rocks every night, or have a temporal storm and get one shot by a bigger guy. i dont mind dangerous wildlife ready to eat me up at a moment's notice. i came to this game because of my love for terrafirmacraft, and i loved there that there wasnt a creeper to blow me up or zombies to pester me, it was just harsh, brutal survival, so, please, if there is a way, can someone tell me? or if there isnt, heeeeey pretty please??? add that option??? Streetwind Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 (edited) In the stock game: the Homo Sapiens world config setting. It disables all lore content, which includes all monsters. It does, however, also disables ruins and other discoverables, storyline quests, traders, and a number of item drops. Outside of that, there might be mods to that effect. LadyWYT Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 I think there's at least a few mods around to disable specific monsters, or at least further restrict their spawning to make them stay underground, should you want to keep playing with lore content enabled. If lore content isn't a concern though, then as @Streetwind said--the Homo Sapiens game mode is what you're looking for.
Thorfinn Posted November 14, 2024 Report Posted November 14, 2024 Welcome to the forums, @EG AS! There is an option to disable temporal storms in the base game. Can't say removing drifters entirely is a popular request, as a whole lot more people download mods featuring enhanced drifters, but there are those who agree with you. Look at the top of this page for the banner, click on Mods, select All Mods, and search for "drifter". When 1.20 releases, you will probably want to wait a bit for the mod(s) you chose to update.
Krougal Posted November 15, 2024 Report Posted November 15, 2024 I haven't done it for the drifters, but it was pretty trivial for the new mobs. Honestly it is one of the more trivial things to mod in this game. I haven't published because other people have. I don't use them but I would imagine Dana's tweaks also has options. Also isn't there an option to just disable rifts in a normal game?
EG AS Posted November 15, 2024 Author Report Posted November 15, 2024 i appreciate all responses and, yeah i would like solely the drifters disabled, i enjoy traders, ruins, the lore elements i really like all of that i just dont like having to deal with drifters all the time, i'll look into the mods tho that's for sure, figured the basics, so maybe a handful of light mods could be nice, thank you all!

Yes, but that doesn't disable drifters. It just makes them spawn the old way. At least with rifts, you know where it's not safe to work tonight. At least that's the way the option used to work.

Yeah, if you don't like drifters, you'll hate the new mobs in 1.20 even more. This community has this weird love of beating around the bush and speaking in code. Some combination of "he who must not be named" and an overly broad conception of what they consider to be "spoilers" so you won't find the new mobs names said directly, but you'll know the mods when you see them. I use my own modified version of https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/13495 which while it does not outright disable them, makes them only generate underground and in light level less than 4. If you change the light level to 0 that would disable them altogether. I like it mainly for the looting changes, since it makes the loot just drop on the ground and the corpses decay very quickly, because who has time to butcher a pile of the little idiots when the next group is waiting to be made dead. 1
Thorfinn Posted November 15, 2024 Report Posted November 15, 2024 1 hour ago, Krougal said: I wasn't here for that, how did it work? Pretty much the same way as everything else spawned, but I think there might have been a minimum range. Not a big range or anything, but something like they wouldn't appear any closer than 5 or 10 blocks from you, and possibly not in your FOV, even beyond that range. Rifts are much easier to deal with, even though you can see foes popping into existence. And maybe that's why they went with rifts -- appearing out of "nowhere" was a feature of rifts. 1 hour ago, Krougal said: Yeah, if you don't like drifters, you'll hate the new mobs in 1.20 even more. Probably true. The facehuggers are much faster than drifters, and missiles from the ugly pluckers do a lot more damage. (Not in the interests of spoilers or anything -- I just don't know what they are actually called. I just go with what they remind me of.) 1 hour ago, Krougal said: I use my own modified version of https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/13495 Nice! And it's even updated to 1.20.

I am in the same boat as well. It’s beyond a matter of them not harming me, but I don’t want to see these creatures at all. (They give me the jeebies.) My goal is to bake and make clothes, nothing more nothing less lol I’d love to see a “No Monsters Spawn” feature hopefully sometime soon, especially with the addition of the new creatures as of 1.20. 1
Thorfinn Posted March 9, 2025 Report Posted March 9, 2025 Welcome to the forums, @blushpinkpunch That's Homo Sapiens mode.

Can't say removing drifters entirely is a popular request... People should play the game the way they want to, they paid their money so get to make that choice. With.. that.. said.. I've been binge watching VS stuff on YT recently, there is something inherently fun about watching people "get it" especially if it starts out as a blind playthrough. I've found quite a few channels I'll continue watching based on just that. However, some have decided to remove Temporal Storms and/or enemies and for me, that's a no-no. As I said at the start, people should play the game how they want, just don't expect people to follow you on that journey if you disable most of the threat.
