I’ve been loving vintage craft so far (110 hours on my single player world and counting!) and I’ve been successful enough to convince some of my friends to play, but they’re mostly hesitant to actually join upon knowing the new type of monsters that’ll be added to 1.20. While they are a fan of the drifters, the ones that crawl and are more spider like are really turning them off in a bad way

The tricky thing is that the only way to stop them from spawning would be to stop all monsters from spawning which isn’t really fun at all.

I do love everything that’ll be added in the upcoming stable release but the only thing I would suggest is there be a setting in world gen where we can control what monsters we want to spawn into our world or make an arachnophobia setting!

I’m curious on what other folks think, or if there’ll be a mod to help out the squeamish?

If your friends don't like arachnid like mobs, they'll want to disable locusts as well.  Those are even MORE arachnid like.  Frankly, since this game draws a LOT of inspiration from HP Lovecraft I'd expect that there'll be things that will induce even more squeamishness in future updates.

I swear I saw a mod that disables them there a while back, but I can't seem to find it now. 😕 That being said, I'm confident someone will make a mod that can disable them from spawning, either shivers specifically or a "catch-all" type mod that can be configured.

In regards to controlling which monsters spawn in the world and which don't though, I think that's best left to mods rather than implementing a new game setting.

By far, the funniest way to deal with arachnophobia would be to replace the model of the shivers with the model of the bunny.

I wouldn't swear to it, but I think @DanaCraluminums ConfigureEverything does what you want. And more, if that wasn't obvious by the title.
