As the title said, our private server just had a huge influx of people, and I'm having trouble keeping up with the demand. Winter is coming and I've been trying to store food away, but with the number of hungry mouths tripling, the amount of food our old farms put out isn't enough. What is the most efficient food to make en masse?

I take it your livestock are not to scale yet, either?

Depending on where you are now, you might get another harvest of a fast growing crop like turnips using greenhouses.

Probably best option is build some fields further south. Or skip forward to spring as the food starts running low, I guess.

No freeloaders! Besides what Thorfinn said, give everyone some spears and tell them to start hunting. The pigs, moose and big horn are somewhat easier to hunt since they don't run as much. Some good hunting parties should come back with lots of meat that will help solve the problem and they will kill wolves at the same time for some meat to snack on. I've survived in snow ball earth just hunting moose, bears and wolves so it's not that hard.

I'm just wondering what "tripling" means. Presumably the original server had at least 2 players, so triple that would be another 4. That can be done via hunting. If "tripling" means an additional 24 mouths to feed, that's going to require a lot of territory. But then again, most of those hunters will be able to live off the land anyway, since crops are easy to see when everything else is brown.

I did a head count since I posted this. We went from 2-10 in two irl days. Needless to say, I think I'm just going to kick them out the door to hunt for meat.

Zane was right when he said "No freeloaders!" I'll just prep whatever they bring back and not sweat it too much.

wish i knew where that server was. i have a problem of over 'hunting'. between the pit traps i have (that mostly caught wolves, and the occational pig or so), and my animal farm (bighorns, pigs, rabbits, and a few chickens), I have enough food stocked up, I loose it to spoilage, due to not enough mouths to feed, and all wanting to go independant.

More than once I actually have to stop myself from hunting, and try to finish what I have stored first before I loose everything mid summer.

You need to find salt to preserve that meat!
