Brynn Bernstein Posted April 1, 2025 Report Posted April 1, 2025 My sow has been pregnant since July, and it's now November. She has plenty to eat and the pen has a grass floor in case that matters. She just never seems to give birth. Any idea why? 1
Thorfinn Posted April 1, 2025 Report Posted April 1, 2025 Straight vanilla or modded? What did you set days per month to, and have you played around with that via command console? Or really, with any of the time commands? And is it possible she got pregnant in an earlier version of the game which you have since updated? I don't know the last would cause it, but it's happened back in, I don't remember, one of the 1.17 versions? Incidentally, she should not need food once it says she's pregnant. Or at least that used to be true. She's supposed to be pregnant for 25 days, IIRC, so if she got pregnant on the 9th of July, she should have delivered on the 7th or 8th of October. It's also possible there's some variation programmed in, like there is on crops or berries or mushrooms or trees. 1
LadyWYT Posted April 1, 2025 Report Posted April 1, 2025 I'd give it a bit more time and see if she produces any bacon bits. If you start pushing into late December/January and there's still no piglets, then I'd start to suspect that something's bugged. The easiest fix is probably killing the sow and spawning a new pig...I'm fairly certain you can change a creature's generation with console commands as well, but I'm not sure what command it is.
Brynn Bernstein Posted April 2, 2025 Author Report Posted April 2, 2025 Update: She gave birth on November 5, and I have no idea why it took so long. I am playing with mods, but nothing that claims to affect pigs, and I never touched days per month or any time-related commands. This world was created in the current version too. (I am playing in exploration mode.) 3
Thorfinn Posted April 2, 2025 Report Posted April 2, 2025 I wonder if there isn't a variability programmed in. There is in so much of the rest. Might even be true of reeds -- things I know I harvested with a scythe, so should have the same maturation, grew tops at different times. 2

Either that, or we're getting distracted by having so much fun(or frustration) with other tasks, that we forget to keep track of certain things(like livestock due dates). So it ends up feeling like your critters took forever to give birth, when they were right on time all along. 1 1
Anony Click Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 (edited) I'm facing the same issue on my vanilla playthrough. Trapped boars really far away from my base. Got 2 sows pregnant. It is been 2 full in game months and they haven't gave birth. They got pregnant on late november so I tought it was a bug related to the winter. (v1.21.6 stable). Edited January 7 by Anony Click
williams_482 Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Two in-game months is only 18 days on default settings, and they gestate for 25 days (give or take). Give them another month and you'll have piglets.
