Im constantly fighting off mobs IN my base. Granted its a big open base carved into a mountain, but its very very well lit. Im almost not doing anything else as Im constantly being interrupted trying to cook, or smith, or anything. Ive already broken multiple weapons and I couldnt even begin to count the total number Ive killed after this patch. Its a bit much to say the least.

Totally serious, If this keeps up Im going to get to a point where I can no longer afford to repair my gear. All these enemys im getting are taking up to much time, and resources with too little reward, and why are there so many in my base, even in daylight. This hasnt stopped the whole time Ive been on. I can barely get anything done.

I too have seen a huge influx in mob spawns after the recent update. I also counted 12 rifts near my house and it was only high activity after not having ever been even half that many near during a apocalyptic amount.

Fixed: Mobs able to spawn near light sources outside of storms with normal self stability (since 1.20.8-rc.1)

Yeah that needs to be changed back to the way it was. Having hostile mobs constantly spawning on you and in my base is really bad if it was intentional. Makes the game nearly unplayable. Hostile mobs spawning in broad day light, in my builds, in my animal pens... With trash rewards.

You are not alone, as i went to do some steel in a room of my bas i was greeted by 7 drifters, not to mention to others that are walking into the closed doors of the other rooms. It's a bit overwhelming and defeats the purpose of a lit base honestly. Hope is just a fk up and not intentional

is there a way, or a command, to stop enemy mobs from spawning altogheter, at least until they fix this situation?

There are several mods that let you adjust spawn rates or to disable some monsters completely. Whether they apply to whatever glitch arose in 1.20.8 is anyone's guess. Check, though. The comments in those mods will likely tell you whether they work.

I came to the forum to see if this had happened to anyone else. I think the "rooms" were broken.
In addition to the increase in the number of mobs at home, I've seen fog inside.

In the 1.20.9 Notes, it says "fixed mobs spawning where they shouldnt.".

I've just installed the update and there are still midday Bowtorns everywhere, more in some cases than before this update. Haven't seen a daylight shiver though, so maybe those are fixed.

Installed 1.20.9 an hour ago, loaded my current save game where the in game time was about 3:00am and Temporal conditions were "Low".  In less than a minute a Rift had appeared 30 blocks away which then spawned 3 Bowtorns, 1 shiver and several drifters.  Later on after sunrise I saw at least 1 shiver spawn in broad daylight.

Plus I don't like the effect of this change in the latest update:

Quote

- Tweak: Increased illumination levels of block light, from torches etc.

I think they've gone too far with it, blocks are overly bright now with a very artificial looking yellow/orange glow about them.  Change it back to how it was before or at least dial it back a bit please.

Puzzling! I've had nothing out of the ordinary in 1.20.9, with existing worlds and new worlds, after a couple hours of testing.

I feel like the mob spawns in 1.20+ had been noticeably reduced (outside of storms). There used to be loads more drifters that would spawn in 1.19. I wonder if they tweaked that back up and it went haywire.  In the early Release candidates I felt the qtys of spawns where the same which gave you lots of shivers and bowtorns every morning. Then the stable release it felt dialed way back.
