Travel to story locations default at 2 hours...is that IRL hours or ingame hours?

The world is huge and beautiful but with such distances of travel on elk when I'm just scraping together porridge it seems daunting. Also I've not found any NPC's yet or other forms of direction in the game itself which might guide, direct or influence me on where to go =/

The first story location (Resonane Archives; RA for short) is about 4-5 thousand blocks from spawn.  Getting there depends on the terrain.  My first world with the RA took about 45 minutes IRL coz of difficult terrain to navigate (dense forests, boggy lakes and steep hills).  My second world?  10 minutes by boat.

The second story location is about 10,000 blocks from spawn.  Travel time depends upon terrain and mode of travel.  Given plains and an elk, I'd expect it to take less than an hour IRL time.

I believe it's roughly 10k from the first story location, unless they've changed that since the early full releases of 1.20.

If you ever play on the official server, 1.5 to 2 hours irl is about the time it’d take to get to both locations.

The RA in my current world is about 4k almost directly south.  the magenta x is 11,000 almost directly west, making it roughly 13,000 from the RA.

You are correct. It's a little more involved than I remembered. RA and L are relative to spawn, V is relative to L, TC and D are relative to V. Or at least, what I'm seeing in the code is consistent with what I remember of my Chap 2 playthrough.

Still, your example would be perfectly in-line with L's range of 10-15k E, 2-3k S of spawn. For reference, RA is 1k W to 1k E, 4-6k S of spawn.

Really depends on your settings...I think there's a setting to shorten the distance between story locations, though I'm not exactly sure where that setting is. On standard settings though, I would say it takes roughly a couple of hours on average to travel from the world spawn to the first major location of chapter two(which I will note is not the first location of chapter two that you will visit). Elk will be a little faster and less resource intensive than traveling on foot, but going on foot will allow you to cut through dense forested and rough terrain a little more easily. Assuming you have the world settings for it, going by boat is very safe but also going to be a bit slower than over land and a lot more boring(nothing to see except water).

The first story location(Resonance Archive) takes about half an hour on average to get to traveling on foot. In order to find it, you'll want to find a treasure hunter and complete a small favor in exchange for a map to the entrance. Once you've completed the Resonance Archive, talk to the treasure hunter again for a lead on the next part of the story.
