Syrdiman Posted June 1, 2025 Report Posted June 1, 2025 For someone that's an adult and has to work full time. It gets hard to find time to play. So sometimes I go a week or two not finding time to visit my game world. The issue is I tend to forget what i needed to do and lose precious in game time to prep for winter for example. Having a writable journal would make life so much more organized and we wouldn't need to find clues as to what i left off at before every game session. Thanks in advance! P.S. I know there's mods that solve this. But this feature should be in the vanilla game considering how intricate the mechanics are. 2
Maelstrom Posted June 4, 2025 Report Posted June 4, 2025 I know what you mean. I'm in the same situation with work, kids, chores, my own schooling and on and on and on. Heck I can lose track of what I was in the middle of after just a couple of days. Until such journals are included, you could do the old MC thing of placing signs with writing on them to remind you what you were about when last you left. HEY! Stop throwing things! I was being facetious. 1
Michael Gates Posted June 4, 2025 Report Posted June 4, 2025 You joke, but I've put up "NEXT RESIN COLLECTION DATE" signs by my house more than once 1
ifoz Posted June 4, 2025 Report Posted June 4, 2025 You can already do this! Make yourself a book, as well as an ink/quill. Hold the quill in your offhand, and you can write in the book! 1
Thorfinn Posted June 4, 2025 Report Posted June 4, 2025 I find sticky notes on the margins of my monitors works great. 2
Never Jhonsen Posted June 5, 2025 Report Posted June 5, 2025 Sticky notes are great, and my monitor is covered in them. However, in terms of Vintage Story they're a bit too "4th wall breaking" for me, so I like to use ingame materials. Book and Quill is a great way to take notes, but I prefer a much simpler way; Chalk Board One sign, and a writable material, and you have yourself a board to note away on. I'm using Limestone as my house is built on that stuff, but Charcoal, Chalk, and even that Lapis you get from all the early game copper panning will work on a sign (Anvil required; signs need boards) 2
Lemurface Posted June 5, 2025 Report Posted June 5, 2025 I've also started putting down signs (2 Board, 1 Stick) and writing on them with Charcoal, I had a few too many oopsies with planting the wrong crops on my farmland. 1

Just you wait. I can make a special trip to the shop, then wonder why I'm holding this pair of pliers... Edited June 5, 2025 by Thorfinn 1
Maelstrom Posted June 5, 2025 Report Posted June 5, 2025 Ok mister I'll One Up You... I'll forget to get my wife a bowl of ice cream when venturing from the TV coz I see the cats need water, get my own ice cream and come back to her drumming her fingers, tapping her foot and a most unpleasant look on her face. 2
