37 tracks and I barely hear most of them.  The problem for me is the volume imbalance.  I have the music volume set to 4%, everything else set to 100%, any higher than that and I have to go into the settings and reduce it when several songs come on.  I'm talking about you: Groove, Hallowcraft, Heartbeat, Daylight, Roots, and JFC Radiance and Rust.  Could we raise the lows and lower the highs.  I'm not trying to complain here, I just want to enjoy more of the tracks. Bump if you agree.  What do you have your music set to?

I do enjoy the music, but you're right to mention the volumes fluctuate too much!

I normally have music turned off and have some Fantasy Music playing on Spotify!

I think this might be a setup issue

I've got sounds set to 100, and music to 50, and I haven't had any issues with it being imbalanced; I still hear the whole song, and it doesn't get overbearingly loud. "Radiance and Rust" in particular, I can still hear all the lows, without the highs being a killer in sound.

While I do have a dedicated 7.1 sound system, I'll sometimes use a cheap USD$10 wired headphones with my setup for when my partner needs quiet, and the volume balance on both are fine with me (although that 7.1 sounds so much richer; those headphones are bass heavy with no top end).

I have reread what I posted and realized I came off as a snobby audiophile 😬 I promise I'm not. My $25 yard sale 7.1 sound system is not anything of worth, I only mentioned it to cover how I'm playing the game 😔

Hey if yours is good, maybe it is just a system issue.  Still would be worth looking into, especially if there are many who feel the same way.  Thanks for the feedback Never Johnsen.  Haven't tried it with headphones, but I do have a soundbar connected through the aux cable, and have tried it straight out of the laptop, both are overpowering.

I agree with @Never Jhonsen, you might look into your system's audio settings or your audio hardware. Maybe some drivers are out of date? I have my music level set to 25% and everything else set to 100% in the game. Windows audio is set to 30%. I use a basic gaming headset--not a cheap one but nothing very expensive/fancy either--and have the volume on it set to about 30-40% of max, roughly.

In any case, I've never run into issues with the music, but I do agree with part of your post OP--the balance between track volumes could be a bit better. The highs and lows feel fine to me, but a couple of tracks feel a bit louder than the others("Hallowcroft" and "Vintage Story" as a couple of examples). It could just be the choice of instruments for those tracks though.

There are 37 tracks??? Yes!!!!

I love the VS music! I suppose I've been stuck in the noob area of the game, so I've only heard many of the basic tracks.

I keep my music level at 20% (allows for talking while recording) and haven't noticed any volume issues with the few tracks I have heard.

So I dug my headphones out of a drawer, they are nothing special, but they sound better than the soundbar and laptop by far.  I can set the music to 20% without it getting too loud.  Much better than the 4%.  @Never Jhonsen@LadyWYTWould it be fair to say that, having other volumes at 100% while the music is at 50% and 25% respectfully, there are times when the music is twice or four times as loud as you would like it to be?

Maybe twice as loud at most, but that tends to be a rare occurrence, usually as a result of my headset being adjusted to be a bit louder.

headphones are almost always better than those two options because the audio tends to be tinny which will make tracks with more high-frequency audio sound louder than other.

I have mine at 6-16%, depending on the fact whether I play alone or with some friends. Everything else is set to 100% tho. I find myself enjoying ambient sounds more, but music is very nice too. It's just that I don't want it to be the focus. My terms with music are pretty much how I used to play the other block game.

Edit: I play with a nice mid-hi-end pair of headphones from audiotechnica.

I have had the same problem as OP; some songs are just much louder than others. That said... how do y'all know the song names? I would have loved to be able to complain about that one tune that was new in 1.19 AND ALWAYS BLASTED LIKE THIS EVEN WHEN MUSIC WAS AT ONE PERCENT, but have no idea what it's called.

I learned most of them by listening to them on Lo-Phi's YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@lo-phi-music

I'm not sure that every track is uploaded to his channel, but he's got most of them available there. You can also get to the album from the Vintage Story website: https://lophi.bandcamp.com/album/vintage-story-ost

The track titles are listed there as well.

From lophi. That's where I am getting the names, I am assuming those are all the tracks in the game, I could be wrong about that.
