Toolmaker Posted August 15, 2025 Report Posted August 15, 2025 I've been playing 1.20.12 for quite a while and I've noticed that my rift activity is stuck at medium. For the last several (in-game) weeks at least, I have no seen it change/update to anything new, even after a temporal storm. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've finally built myself a really cool house (with which I'm quite happy), got pretty decent gear, got full winter meal prep completed and I'm about to go cave diving and progress to the resonance archive. I already tried turning temporal stability off/on, but that only affects the cog in the bottom, not rift activity. I saw that this was a bug in an older version of 1.20 on the issue tracker, but one was fixed in 1.20.8-rc2.

Rift activity is a bit random; it can change multiple times in a single day, or go for several days without changing at all. I'm not sure that you can change the rift activity itself, but you can turn the rifts off by using the command /worldconfig temporalRifts off Otherwise, if you keep the rifts enabled, I would just keep an eye on the activity, as it should eventually change and you've probably just gotten an unlucky run of a lot of Medium activity. However, if it still doesn't change, then I would consider submitting a bug report.
YordaEatsMelon Posted September 23, 2025 Report Posted September 23, 2025 I'm on v1.21.1(stable) and I also have rift activity stuck at Medium. It doesn't bother me, but I miss the lack of variation--I think it might be a bug.

Maelstrom Posted September 23, 2025 Report Posted September 23, 2025 I've had rift activity hang out at a certain level for long periods of time. The higher levels usually don't stay for long though. It was a lot of fun when the quiet change from a constant nocturnal spawning a'la TOBG closer to the current variable spawnage due to rifts. One of the later 1.15 updates introduced rift activity in the "character" gui and the nightly spawns became much more variable. From what I recall everyone was, "WTH changed to mob spawn?". It was a refreshing for such a surprise. The 1.16 update trailer showed the current rifts including playing a resonator near a rift.

Maelstrom Posted October 8, 2025 Report Posted October 8, 2025 That sounds like the bug that was reported as fixed. Rift activity should change no longer than 2-3 in game days; and those times are on the rare side as well. I think I've only encountered that long of a span once or twice since rift activity was introduced late in the 1.15 update cycle.

It was caused by updating the game, which set my current rift status to an entire year. you can check if you've been affected by typing `/dweather` to display remaining time for current rift activity.
