Known issues: some issues with weather, and snow accumulation likely does not work in this version. Windmills may also not work in some cases (weather related?).  Some worldgen anomalies with certain world settings & seeds.

I really want to know how this stuff can even happen, whether it's an actual bug or just some weird mismanagement in the code. When I read the newer and newer patch notes, things just keep getting crazier. :D

Right? I am still internally giggling about the teleporting fish.

It's funny, but also kind of worrying - how do you even manage to create a bug like this in the first place? :D

Copied from Subnautica?

People, I keep saying it, there's a serious problem with gravel fields, they're invading the map and everyone's stuck. Even this kind of canyon mountains are TOO MANY. I mean, guys, this is really bad.

Yeah, I cringe when I see large areas of gravel. So useless.

Not quite. It's a lot easier to spot those telltale signs of surface copper and other minerals in a gravel field than it is in a grassy field. It's also somewhat easier to spot threats or points of interest, since there's not a lot of grass or other foliage to obscure your vision.

Okay, but that just ruins the map, there should be a setting to increase the gravel and sand fields

It could be as complex as sections of code having unforeseen effects on other code sections, or as simple as fatfingering a key when writing/examining portions of the code to begin with. It's really hard to say.

If you dislike the gravel fields so much, you can increase the world rainfall/moisture.

I forgot that's a thing. But given that the gravel fields are technically deserts, increasing world rainfall should alleviate a good chunk of the issue.

What's wrong with gravel? I've never even thought about it remotely being a problem lol.

I mean if you don't like the gravel fields, it's a problem. Personally, I've not had any issue with the gravel fields, and I quite like some of the striations we're getting in 1.21. Very much Painted Desert vibes.

Agreed, @Adnyeus. Something goofy happened when fixing mapgen. C# is modular enough that I'm a bit surprised, but it sure acts like things I used to see all the time where one module conflicts with another's namespace, generally when multiple coders were working on related objects. My money is on a blown pointer.

Gotta say though, the mountain in his second image looks like it would make a great fortress with a little work.

honestly yea, that mountain looks so good! I love how actually mountainous the mountains look in Vintage Story compared to a number of other procedural games.

I didn't know it had an influence but with the standard settings it still seems too much and not well integrated into the environment

Exactly!  Those wide open expanses of sparse or no vegetation are totally unrealistic.   It's not like the earth where there's no such things as the Gobi and Sahara deserts, or the United States southwest.  Oh wait.

Heya, I just came back on the game after a long break and was planning on making a new permanent singleplayer save, and I wanted to know of how soon-ish are we talking about for the 1.21 stable to come out, something like near the end of the month maybe ? That way I'll know if I just have to wait patiently or if I could start now.
