Broccoli Clock Posted October 8, 2025 Report Posted October 8, 2025 It's one of the first things the player chooses, so what is your choice? For me, high alto-flute, because I like it to be as inoffensive and minimal as possible.
Kleave Posted October 8, 2025 Report Posted October 8, 2025 Accordion because it gives me sea shanty vibes and medium because it doesn't distort the sound of the instrument too much! 2
LadyWYT Posted October 8, 2025 Report Posted October 8, 2025 For me it really depends on what kind of character I want to play for that world. Higher pitches and instruments for female characters, lower pitches and more bass for males. 1
Never Jhonsen Posted October 8, 2025 Report Posted October 8, 2025 (edited) Alto Flute, low Been what I've used since. .. was it 1.14 or 1.15 when the creation menu was added? Anyways, despite what posts have said on this forum, I love the voices in the game Little beeps and bops . .. much better than the ole "HUR!" sound we used to have Edited October 8, 2025 by Never Jhonsen

Sprocket3001 Posted October 8, 2025 Report Posted October 8, 2025 I always use medium accordion. It just sounds... good. Also, did they get the whole instruments for lungs idea from Don't Starve? 2

I suppose it's possible, but the whole "instrument = voice" idea has been around for ages. Banjo-Kazooie is a notable example, as is Animal Crossing(I think). The benefit to instruments as vocals is that it conveys character personality, without being mistaken for an actual language. The Sims had this issue, in that EA was apparently getting emails from foreign players asking how to switch the Sim language from English to their native tongue. 2

7embre Posted October 9, 2025 Report Posted October 9, 2025 Would love to choose euphonium, but since we don't have that, I went with high-pitched tuba. 1

I also find it makes me laugh, like a made up word. What was even better was I had a friend who played one, brilliant stuff hearing her discuss her euphonium with me giggling in the corner. 1

It's melancholic, but with some notes of hope in it. Shame it's not as popular as other brass instruments — everyone knows trumpet, sax and tuba, but eupho? Nah. Only those who study music theory
th3w4rd3n Posted October 18, 2025 Report Posted October 18, 2025 very low accordion or harmonica. i like how distorted and freaky they sound when they're that deep and, in my brain lore, seraphs have weird voices compared to humans. i'd love to see more instruments in the future, esp less common ones like a hurdy gurdy, or some string instruments like violin, guitar, or shamisen. mostly because i ALSO want to set them to very low and see how freaky they sound.
Grummsh Posted October 18, 2025 Report Posted October 18, 2025 sexy low sax is the way to go for me always

DatDot1337 Posted October 22, 2025 Report Posted October 22, 2025 Low Oboe is the only one I've ever used.
NyeteyN Posted October 24, 2025 Report Posted October 24, 2025 I don't remember but I usually choose something low pitched. In my first world I accidentally chose something high pitched and every time I got hit I got a heart attack
Broccoli Clock Posted October 25, 2025 Author Report Posted October 25, 2025 I didn't expect my preference to be the most popular, but equally I didn't expect almost all options to have similar support. Going by the votes, it seems the only thing I can say is that the Trumpet is the least popular type of voice, with the least popular pitch being Very Low. What to make of this? Not sure, without an out and out clear winner, I suppose it validates the dev's choice of having a non-human like sounding voice, and in turn providing differing pitches. If it was disliked by most then you'd probably find people gravitating towards the "least worst" voice, but as it is, it's a pretty even spread. 1
