LtGerbal Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 So, I'm hunting for a lore bit and stumbled across some blocks that cannot be broken because they "are claimed by a higher power." Unfortunately, I went into a cave and now I can't break my way out of it or build my way out of it. I don't have any fancy gear or access to my base. I've tried mining pretty much every block in the cave and couldn't break any of them. What can I do in this situation?

Open chat, type in "/gm 2" and send the message (this will enter Creative mode). Press "F3" until you get the notification "Fly mode on". Fly out of the hole. Set up somewhere where you cannot get hurt when falling. Open chat, type in "/gm 1" and send the message again (this will get you back into Survival mode). Alternatively, if you are proper stuck or very far down, you can also hit "F3" one more time to activate fly mode and no clip mode, and zip straight up to the surface. williams_482 Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Out of curiosity, which story location was this, and how did it happen? Players getting trapped in claimed locations is definitely not something the devs intended. 1

Adding to this--/gm 3 will put the player into spectator mode, where they can freely fly through blocks.

Which I don't know where the entrance is or where to find it is, so I went back home and effectively put it off till after winter.

Sounds like the Archive might have generated in the middle of a cave system that was already there. I'm not sure how far the location's boundary extends, but the location itself is quite large and has areas where you wouldn't necessarily expect them.
Broccoli Clock Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 One other solution, that doesn't need /gm 2 creative mode, is to set a waypoint at the location you want to be at then use the teleport to waypoint /tpwp command. Place a marker on the map, call it something simple "aa" (for example) then just type, /tpwp aa and you'll be taken there. It can be a little funky with the y-axis it lands you at, as I guess it expects you to be at the surface when a waypoint is made (I guess) so you'll sometimes find yourself "han solo'ed" into the rock upon jumping to the new location. If that is the case, just repeat until you find yourself at a more suitable y-axis. The interesting thing about this command is that your last death is recorded as a waypoint called "you died here", so if you find yourself unable to get back to your loot, either through misadventure (at a really difficult place to reach) or distance (x1000s of blocks from your spawn point), and you are worried about it despawning you can use the command.. /tpwp you died here ..and you'll land right at your death location (including the correct y axis). I get that people won't like to use something like that, it does seem to defeat the whole risk/reward thing, but it's useful to know just in case. 1
