Can we change the brightness of nights on a server?

Some way of making the game playable for more than 20 minutes at a time would be massively beneficial. Especially on multiplayer servers where there is no option to sleep. Double especially when even if you're on  your own on the server, and you go to sleep once it's too dark to play anymore, you wake up, and it's even darker, and you're still unable to play.

The client can turn up gamma in the graphics settings, no? That should make nights a little brighter. It'll also make days brighter, so you may have to turn it back down eventually, but it's at least a temporary workaround, right?

Besides, "unable to play" is a wee bit of an overstatement, no? That's what torches are for. It takes just a few moments to light up the area you want to work in by placing a couple of them in the general vicinity. Works in four out of five weather conditions (or something to that effect).

Additionally, your experienced players can help coach the newcomers to adjust their playstyle and plan ahead. For example, instead of doing whatever comes up whenever it comes up, I attempt to intentionally focus on outside work during the day, and leave everything that can be done inside the house for the night. Things like clayforming and knapping and smithing, making food, baking things in the firepit, grinding the quern, splitting and stacking logs, sorting inventory and storage, digging out a basement... the works. Half the nights, I don't even use the bed.

Even with a lantern in hand, it's not fun playing at nighttime in this game. I don't like having to squint at the screen, and it's nigh-on impossible to record anything. If I'm in the middle of building something then "unable to play" is definitely not an understatement. I run a blacksmithing shop, but it only takes a couple of minutes to smith a few scythes and chisels to restock the shelves. Other than that, I usually just stand still, and alt-tab out of the game if other people are online, or spam right-click then shift on a bed if I'm on my own. Take it to 1AM, and then sleep until it's light.

Essentially, there's already an option for people that enjoy the pitch black. The game can be fun for them. For others, it completely saps the fun out of the game to only be able to play for 20 mins at a time, and then have to alt-tab out for 20 mins. There comes a point where immersion, and playability clash, and this game crosses that line in many ways. I've already had to replace the weather sound files with silent OGG files to stop the white noise wind and rain, and the horrendously loud thunder. I've turned my gamma up as far as the game will currently allow, and I still find the nights to be unplayable. That's my reality, so no, it's not an overstatement.

You really can't do much at night, instead of staying inside home. This applies especially for the beginning, when people still have to figure out how to play this game, produce items like torches etc. It is really no fun to sit in the dark, not to know what is around you, maybe becoming hungry also, therefore beeing forced to leave your save spot and finally run into wolfes, falling down a mountain or whatever, because you can't see anything beyond 1.5 metres. Somewhat brighter nights would change a lot. And maybe also the option to shorten them. It's just a fact that many people just either wait the whole time doing nothing or just leave the server to come back later. I noticed that a lot of times.
