I seriously don't understand how people able to play the entire game in only first person view especially when exploring and searching things, viewing level is so low that there will be many things missed like wild plants, berries, surface ore around you and obscured by slight terrain bumps, bushes or trees, unless walking in grid path with points marked on map or in your head, but if there isn't anything around you, it's a massive waste of time too... watching youtube videos on how people play makes me think i'm an alien with inferior cognition...

I'm pretty much the opposite. I prefer to play in first person since it's much easier to point the camera wherever I wish, when I wish, as well as no player model to block my vision of things. It's also a much better mode for using tools, weapons, placing blocks, and just interacting with the world in general. Small details like plants and things I will miss occasionally, but I generally have a sharp eye for detail so I'm generally not missing that much. When it comes to terrain I'm generally a little more careful in steep or brush-covered terrain, or most instances where visibility is limited. However, I also play with the minimap, which I'm typically watching from the corner of my eye; most pitfalls show up on the map quite clearly.

The elk and sailboat are the exceptions to the rule, as I'll sometimes use third-person instead of first-person in those cases.

I use 3rd when I'm evading shivers or bears, but otherwise, not so much. Maybe it's just too many hours in 1st, but I don't find 3rd helps me find ore or discern the best path at all.

I abandoned Valheim, Enshouded, and multiple other games because they don't offer a real first person view. Sure, I can play, and enjoy some 3rd person games, but the world immediately shrinks and I now control a character rather than being the character. And then you have VR... can't go any more 1st person than that. But to each their own, play what you like and how you like it.

The only time I ever go into 3rd person in any game at all is when traveling by horse, car, boat etc.

In fact, if a game only has a 3rd person over the shoulder view its a hard no on purchase regardless of how good the game is. Once I learn that about a game, I am 100% done looking into it. I do not know how people can tolerate that kind of view it is a HUGE immersion killer for me

Although I have played a few of the GTA games, that was decades ago, I didnt last long and I do not like those games.
