After being registered, an installation is supposed to require no login credentials, ever. Yet my game keeps asking for a password on every startup.

Considering Microsoft stole my minecraft account with a client that required credential authentication on each startup, I have absolutely no confidence VS will not do the exact same thing. Therefore I wish to know if there is any way to stop this always online DRM that is supposedly not in the game from manifesting? As it stands I'd say this is deceptive advertising.

@Vakapad777 I always play offline. Vintage Story is setup to require an authorization on the first use. That has been true for me and it never asks for authorization again (eta: and I've been playing since 2018).

I'm pretty sure the only time you will be asked for credentials is if

  1. You are on-line, and,
  2. Anego has their authentication servers running.

And even then it usually doesn't. If you are playing the same instance from the same computer, it will only rarely ask. Just disconnect from the router (or go into airplane mode) before you start the game and you should be fine.

[EDIT]

I don't believe you will be able to join a multiplayer server if you have bypassed authentication this way. Which is good, or griefers could easily spoof logins and do what they do. But it should work fine for single player.

I only had to sign in once. So unless you played different versions at the same time, or logged out instead of selecting Quit as you are supposed to, it should not happen like that.

The only situation I can think of where it would ask every time is if you alternate between instances, users or computers. Then, yes, each time you change, you will have to log in, so you get a new session key and every other computer/instance will have an outdated session key. But if you stick to one user, one machine and one instance, you should be fine. (I include "user" because at least in Win, each world is stored in the user's directory, at least by default. If your SO wants to play while you are out, have her log into Windows as you. Her world will be saved in your directory, but at least you don't have to buy another copy and install a second instance.)
