I was wondering if there was a command or a mod that lets you view someone's inventory. There's somebody that could have been stealing on our server and we wanted to see if there was a way other then going through logs.

I'm not aware of anything like this. Looking at the log files is the only way I know of to figure out for sure who did what in the game, and when. If players are behaving suspiciously or otherwise being accused of cheating, best to check those files to figure out exactly what's going on.

Edit: Checking the log files will also prevent suspects from bypassing an inventory check by hiding stolen items elsewhere on the server.

@kidkapt

You can try this mod --> https://mods.vintagestory.at/rifteye

"Allows Mods and Admins to inspect players (also offline) inventories, view claims and perform certain actions on target player like TP, Kick and Ban.

This mod is server and client side but will not automatically download, you will have to add it to your client yourself to use.
"

But as @LadyWYT mentioned, it's probably best to also check the logs, in case the culprit has stowed the stolen item(s) somewhere outside their own inventory.

I'd recommend this mod --> https://mods.vintagestory.at/sbls for easy event logging.

Good luck trying to get a thief to install the mod of his downfall. Its probably best to just review logs.

The recommendation is aimed more towards future incidents and ease of use, and not necessarily for this specific past event.  If players refuse to install these types of mods, do you really want them on your server in the first place?

Of course not. But, I really don't understand why people don't use land claims. Its not hard to figure out, and stops 100% of theft.

It would be like leaving your car unlocked and running and then complaining when it gets stolen. Half the blame is on the owner.

This is true, but if the server consists of just a small friends' group, that is playing more cooperatively, then land claims might not be needed. Land claims are enabled on my friend's server but we don't use them for similar reasons. That being said, just because everyone is friends doesn't mean that someone won't cave to temptation and take something they weren't supposed to...in which case, might want to consider using land claims in the future.

Though really, I hope it's more a case of the server glitching and causing issues with items, and not a player turning to theft. Not a glitch is really any better, but it's probably easier to deal with than a thieving friend.
