OutragedTrack7 Posted Tuesday at 07:47 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:47 PM Mainly posting this as a heads up. I updated from 1.21.6 to 1.22 and while I had my out of date mods on The damage bug and any damage would instantly kill me. I have no idea what caused it, as none of my mods pertain to damage in the first place. Hopefully this helps people.
IAmMoss Posted Tuesday at 07:59 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:59 PM i havent checked them all, but most of the mods i tested instantly crash my game now currently waiting for updates to 1.22
LadyWYT Posted Tuesday at 09:16 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:16 PM Welcome to the forums! Older mods sometimes work on newer game versions, but it's always best to test them first as there's no guarantee they're going to work correctly on a new game version. I will note that 1.22 changed quite a lot of things, including updating the game to run on .net 10, so older mods are much more likely to break and most will probably need to be updated. 1
Veronica Hohenheim Posted Wednesday at 08:41 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:41 AM I tried to keep disable mods but no matter how many of them I give up it crashes.Either I gotta have to play vanilla or update corrupted my game idk 1
Vratislav Posted Wednesday at 10:02 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:02 AM As I have tried to play in pre- releases and testing mods I use in my long time world, yup: there were a lot of changes under the hood, and mods that are not updated will mostly cause problems. For the most popular mods with dedicated developers, they will surely update to 1.22 stable soon and we should be deeply thankful to them. For other cases, I can recommend from my experience mostly with worldgen mods: Check if the latest version of the mod was updated at least to 1.22-pre 8/10 version. Woldgen mods from 1.21 will surely not work correctly, even mods updated to pre- 4-5 version may fail as the worldgen was modified due to elements like berry bushes and dungeons. Some mods that are no longer being updated, could be forked and are maintained by other people, e.g. Natural Trail Mod has at least third fork already. If you are able, the abandoned mod is simple and the fix is possibly easy, you may try to update it for yourselves (not that I do it, but there are many players who are capable of it.) 1

Having assisted a friend with mod development...can confirm, there were a lot of changes under the hood, mainly related to entities, I think, that broke a LOT of mods. Now that we have a stable release, most mod authors will probably be busy trying to update their stuff, but it may take a few days/a couple weeks for everything to update. 1

I updated my game and Better Ruins to 1.22.0, but my mod manager says both are incompatible, despite indicating the mod needs 1.22.0 and my game is in... 1.22.0 Tried reinstalling the update but nothing changed.
